The Day of Preparation

(rewritten, revised, and updated on 2/23/13)

We find mention in the gospels of ‘the day of preparation’ particularly as it refers to the day Yeshua died, the day of the crucifixion. Apart from these few verses  (Matthew 27:62; Mark 15:42; Luke 23:54 and John 19:14, 31, and 42) however, specific mention of the phrase ‘the day of the prepartion’, or any of its variants, is not found anywhere else in Scripture.

Due to this particular day, always and only being found immediately prior to the Passover (Aviv 14) and the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Aviv 15 – 21), it can never be broadly applied to the sixth day of every week throughout the year. Restated, the day immediately before (the sixth day of the week) each weekly Sabbath (the seventh day of the week) is not ‘the day of the preparation’.

The phrase ‘the day of the preparation’ applies only to the day before the annual weekly Sabbath (Shabbat haGadol, Aviv 14), when the Passover lamb is killed and cooked, to be eaten during the Passsover meal, at the time of transition from Aviv 14 into Aviv 15, which latter day is the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

The Passover lamb is always slain the fourteenth day of the first month. This day is also called Shabbat haGadol, and it is always the second weekly Sabbath of the first month of the year. It is immediately followed by the chag (feast), the first day (Aviv 15) of the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Aviv 15-21). It is eaten at the commencement of the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Passover Seder meal.

The priests could not defile themselves, because that would prevent them from eating the chagigah (festival offering) on the first day of the feast.

John 18:28 Then led they Yeshua from Caiaphas to the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the Passover.

The eating of the Passover Seder meal (Aviv 14 into 15) takes place one full day after the day of the crucifixion, which took place on the day of preparation (Aviv 13). The preparing that took place on the day called ‘the preparation’ involved getting the leaven, a picture of sin, out of the houses, and preparing for the Passover Seder. We see a picture of this occuring at the last supper when, after eating the Seder meal, the sop was given to Judas Iscariot, and haSatan entered him, and he went out, and it was night.

Luke 22:3 Then haSatan entered into Judas surnamed Ishcariot, being of the number of the twelve.

John 13:27 And after the sop, haSatan entered into him. Then Yeshua said to him, “What you do, do quickly.”

The ‘preparation’ also included the killing of the Passover lamb, the Pesach, of necessity.

The next few citations show that the Passover meal was officially eaten following the end of the fourteenth day (Aviv 14) of the first month of each year.

John 2:23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, in (alt. while, on, during) the feast day (added), many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles that he did.

John 19:14 And it was (the day of) the preparation of the Passover, and about the sixth hour: and he said to the Jews, “Behold your King!”

Mark 15:42 And now when the even (erev) was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the Sabbath (i.e. Shabbat haGadol).

Luke 23:54 And that day was the preparation, and the (weekly) sabbath (Shabbat haGadol) drew on.

John 19:31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, for that sabbath day was an ‘high day’ (Shabbat haGadol) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

A common mistake made by many who read what they want into the text here, is that they incorrectly insist that the use of the words ‘high day’ here means the first day (Aviv 15) of the Feast Unleavened Bread, which it does not. Messianic Jews and Ephraimites are both guilty of making this common error.

John 19:42 There laid they Yeshua therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the tomb was near at hand.

Matthew 27:62 Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate.

The day of the crucifixion was Aviv 13, which is the day of the preparation, and it is followed by the annual weekly Sabbath, Shabbat haGadol , that immediately precedes the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Simon Peter versus Simon the Sorcerer

or… St. Peter Meets the Competition!

This is a great expose by the late Dr. E.L. Martin. It documents the true history of the Samaritans, the meaning of the word ‘peter’ in the ancient world and the “church” that was established at Rome by Simon the Sorcerer.

Acts 8:9-24 (KJv). But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries. But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, saying, “Give me this power ALSO, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity. Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the LORD for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.”

Right from the very beginning, Satan had his counterfeit “messiah” operating right in the true Messiah’s backyard. His name was Simon Magus, or Simon the Sorcerer, and it was this man, and not Simon Peter the Apostle, who went on to found the Universal Roman “church.” His career was the history of Roman Catholicism in miniature. For a long timehe bewitched the people with his false miracles. Since the year 800 A.D., Rome has bewitched the world with her false miracles of transubstantiation.

Simon believed and was baptized. Outwardly he was a Christian but his belief was only superficial and he was still a pagan at heart. He coveted the apostolic office, and saw the opportunity of using Christianity to make money — a business corporation masquerading as the ‘church of Christ’!!

From Simon Magus we get the word simony which means to buy a religious office with money.

After his encounter with St. Peter, this magician went to Rome and by tricks and false miracles established a “Christian church” in that city. This man can truly be considered as the first of the age long dynasty of Popes —many coming in Christ’s name and deceiving many (Matt. 25:5).

As in the case of Patrick and Palladius, the arch-fiend Satan, took advantage of the similarities of the one to supplant it with the other. We can be sure that Palladius took a big sack of gold with him when he set out for Hibernia. History does not record the encounter between the Roman and the Briton but we can be sure that St. Patrick told him the same thing that St. Peter told Simon Magus: “To hell with you and your money . . . for trying to buy the gift of God…….”

SIMON MAGUS by Ernest L. Martin

What were the origins of Catholic-Babylonian Christianity? What was Simon’s religion before he met Peter? Where did that religion originate? Read in this series of articles the detailed and documented account of Simon Magus and his great COUNTERFEIT CHRISTIANITY!

THE FALSE religious system began very early — almost with Pentecost in 31 A.D. Even in the earliest of Paul’s epistles, he informs us that “the mystery of iniquity DOTH ALREADY WORK” (II Thess. 2:7). Paul wrote this in 50 or 51 A.D. The plot to supplant the Truth had already begun. In the later epistles of Paul and in those of the other Apostles, we find it gaining considerable momentum. However, even though the Apostles discuss the diabolical system which was arising, THEY NOWHERE MENTION HOW IT STARTED. They had no need in mentioning its beginning — that had already been done!

The book of Acts is the KEY to the understanding of Christian beginnings. Not only does it show the commencement of the TRUE Church, but it equally reveals the origins of the False Church masquerading as Christianity. Indeed, you would think it odd if the book of Acts did not discuss this vital subject.

The Book of Acts — the Key

First, let us recall two points of necessary understanding.

1) The book of Acts was written by Luke about 62 A.D.– some 31 years after the True Church began. Acts recalls ALL events which affected, in a major way, the True Church. It especially tells us about the beginnings of matters relating to Church history.

2) Acts does NOT record every single event relative to the Church, important as one might think them to be.

For example, Luke doesn’t mention a single thing about the activities of ten of the original twelve Apostles of Christ. Yet are we to assume that they did nothing important in the history of the Church? Absolutely NOT! They must have done many mighty works. But we can see from this omission that Luke recorded ONLY THOSE EVENTS WHICH WERE ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY for God’s Church of the future to know.

Notice that Luke’s geography leads him towards the Northwest and West of Palestine. He discusses Church history in Asia Minor, Greece and ROME. He wanted to leave us with the truth of what was going on in the West and North because the prophecies showed the false system arising in these localities.

All other activities of God’s Church — all about the other ten Apostles, etc. — fall into relative unimportance because the trouble wasn’t going to come from Palestine itself. It was to come from ROME and adjacent areas. It is no wonder that Luke spares no pains to tell us the truth of what was really going on in these critical areas, and that is the reason Acts concerns itself primarily with Paul. These are well-known principles that help us understand the overall viewpoint of Acts.

With the foregoing in mind, read the incident recorded by Luke, of the first encounter of God’s Apostles with a heretic. This encounter was not with an ordinary run-of-the-mill individual, but with one of the greatest men in the East at that time — Simon the Magus! (the original Mr. Magoo!)

The reason Luke describes the intentions of this man so thoroughly is the profound effect this man, and his followers, had on God’s Church in Asia Minor, Greece, and ESPECIALLY ROME. Actually, this man by 62 A.D., (when Luke composed the book of Acts) had caused the True Church so much trouble that Luke had to show the people that he was NOT, as he claimed to be, a part of the Christian Church.

All scholars realize that Luke tells about Simon’s beginning because of his later notoriety and danger to the Church.

In this regard, notice the comment of Hasting’s Dictionary of the Apostolic Church, Vol. 2, p. 496: “It seems beyond question that Luke KNEW THE REPUTATION which Simon acquired, and that he regarded the subsequent history of Simon as the natural result of what occurred in the beginning of his connection with the Christians.” If we assume that Luke recorded this encounter of the Apostles with Simon Magus simply to show that “simony” was wrong, we miss the point completely. There is a score of places in other parts of the Bible to show the error of buying ecclesiastical gifts.

Luke was exposing SIMON MAGUS HIMSELF. This IS the important point!! Luke was clearly showing that Simon was NEVER a part of God’s Church, even though by 62 A.D., many people were being taught that Simon was truly a Christian — taught that he was the HEAD of the only TRUE Christians; the Apostle to the Gentiles!

What Luke Tells Us About Simon Magus

Notice the points Luke places clearly before us. 1) Simon was a Samaritan, not a Jew — (Acts 8:9). Remember that the Bible tells us salvation was of the Jews — not of the Samaritans (John 4:22). 2) Simon Magus greatly used demonic powers to do miracles and wonders (Acts 8:9). 3) The whole population of Samaria (both small and great) gave heed to him (Verse 10). He was looked on as the greatest prophet — all Samaritans BELIEVED IN HIM! 4) The Samaritans WORSHIPPED him as “the Great One” — a god. “This man is that power of God called Great [that is the Almighty]” (RSV. Verse 10). Imagine it! They called him god in the flesh! 5) Luke is also careful to inform us that Simon had become firmly established in Samaria as “the Great One” and had practiced his powers “for a long time” (Verse 11). 6) Luke wants us to understand that he nominally became a Christian (“Simon himself believed”) and was baptized — that is, he physically, outwardly “entered” the Christian Church (Verse 13). 7) Simon even recognized that Christ’s power was greater than his but wanted to be associated with that great name (Verse 13). 8) Simon, seeing the potential of the Christian religion waited until the authorities, Peter and John, came to Samaria and then offered to pay them money to OBTAIN AN APOSTLESHIP IN THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH (Verses 18-21).

Simon Coveted the Apostle’s Office

Those who carelessly read this section of Scripture may get the mistaken notion that Simon wanted only to buy the Holy Spirit. Yes, he wanted that — but his main intention went far beyond. He had eyes on becoming an APOSTLE! Peter immediately perceived his intention and said “You have neither PART nor LOT in this matter” (Verse 21). The true Apostles had been chosen after Christ’s death to take PART in the apostleship by LOT (Acts 1:25, 26). Peter was telling Simon he couldn’t buy an APOSTLESHIP.

Luke is showing that Simon wanted to be one of the APOSTLES — a top man in the Christian Church. He was after that office. After all Simon imagined himself to be fully qualified to be an APOSTLE, especially over the Samaritans since they already looked to him as the greatest religious leader of the age. However, Peter rebuked him sternly. 9) Peter perceived that Simon was in the “gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity [lawlessness]” (Verse 23).

NOTE: This verse has been misunderstood because the King James Version fails to give the full force of Peter’s accusation. This verse when understood in the manner Peter intended, is one of the most important of the whole chapter. IT IS A PROPHECY! Peter knew the mind of this man and what this man was to become. This is made plain by Sir William Ramsay in his Pictures of the Apostolic Church, p. 60. He says: “Peter rebuked him in strong and PROPHETIC TERMS. The PROPHECY is concealed in the ordinary translation: the Greek means ‘thou art FOR a gall of bitterness and a fetter of unrighteousness [lawlessness]’, i.e., a cause of bitterness and corruption to others.”

This makes it plain. Peter was uttering a prophecy by the Holy Spirit. He was telling what this Simon was to become; Lange’s Commentarysays: “Peter’s words, literally, mean: ‘I regard you as a man whose influence WILL BE like that of bitter gall [poison] and a bond of unrighteousness [lawlessness], or, as a man who has reached such a state’.” (Vol. 9, p. 148).

Not only was Simon, in Peter’s time, a great antagonist to the Church, but he would be the adversary in the future. This prophecy is the KEY that opens to our understanding the ORIGINS of the heresies mentioned in the letters of the Apostles. Peter clearly knew Simon wouldn’t repent. Verse 22 shows that in the original.

Gall of Bitterness Defined

It is also interesting to note Peter’s statement that Simon was to become a “gall of bitterness.” People today may not realize the exact meaning of such a phrase, but no Jew in the First Century was in any doubt as to its meaning. It was a figure of speech adopted from the Old Testament which denoted going over to the idols and abominations of the heathen. Read Deuteronomy 29:16-18 and see how plainly this figure of speech is used. When the Apostle Peter applied to Simon Magus the phrase “gall of bitterness,” he meant that Simon would be the responsible party for the introduction of heathen beliefs and idols into Christianity. The prophecy takes on a new and important scope when we realize this real meaning of Peter’s prophecy.

No wonder Jude later says, speaking about the very men who followed Simon Magus (including Simon himself): “For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ORDAINED to this condemnation” (Verse 4). We can be confident that Peter recognized that Satan was going to use this Simon Magus as the GREAT PROTAGONIST OF FALSE CHRISTIANITY.

The later history of Simon Magus shows that Peter’s prophecy came true in a most remarkable way. Simon Magus Unrepentant 10) Even after Peter’s strong rebuke, Simon DID NOT REPENT! And Peter knew that he wouldn’t!

Conclusion: This means that Simon thought he deserved to be an Apostle — if not the chief Apostle — in the Christian Church. He became baptized which, in a physical way, made him ostentatiously a “member.” It is important to remember that he DID NOT REPENT of his error. There is not the slightest hint that he gave up believing that he had divine right to be an Apostle.

He deliberately continued in this error, with his later followers — calling himself “Christian”! It is because of the later deceptive activities of this would-be Apostle that Luke was compelled to show his ignominious beginning and to reveal what Peter prophesied about him.

It is by identifying the real beginning of the great false church system with this Simon that opens up a whole new vista of understanding in regard to the counterfeit Christianity which began even in the infancy of the Church. What Did Simon and the Samaritans Believe?

One of the most scholarly of early church historians was Harnack, who wrote an extensive seven-volume work titled The History of Dogma. This man is recognized as one of the top authorities in the world on this subject. He states: “Long before the appearance of Christianity, combinations of religion had taken place in Syria and Palestine, ESPECIALLY IN SAMARIA, insofar as the ASSYRIAN and BABYLONIAN religious philosophy . . . with its manifold interpretations, had penetrated as far as the eastern shore of the Mediterranean” (Vol. 1, pp. 243, 244). Notice he says the Babylonian religion had come ESPECIALLY TO SAMARIA! !

And why not? The Samaritans were largely Babylonian by race. The Bible tells us in II Kings 17:24 that most of the Samaritans had been taken to Samaria from Babylon and adjacent areas. Later on, Ezra informs us that others who were mainly of Babylonian stock came to Samaria (Ezra 4:9-10). These people amalgamated their Babylonian religious beliefs with some of the teachings from the Old Testament. But they NEVER DEPARTED basically from their own Babylonian-Chaldean religious teachings.

If anyone doubts that these Samaritans practiced outright paganism under the guise of YHVH worship, let him read the extraordinarily clear indictments recorded in the inspired Word of God (II Kings 17:24-41).

A Brief History of the Samaritans

There were originally five Babylonian tribes who had been transported to the area where Northern Israel once lived before Israel’s inglorious defeat and captivity by the Assyrians. When these five tribes moved INTO the vacant land of Samaria, they brought their Babylonian and Assyrian gods with them.

After a short while in their new country, they were ravaged by lions. They interpreted this punishment as coming upon them because they failed to honor the god of the new land — not realizing that there is only One Great GOD, who is not confined to any one land. These Samaritans didn’t have sense enough to realize that the True God of the land had sent Israel into captivity because of their calf-worship and their introduction of Phoenician religion. They asked the Assyrian king to send back one of the priests of Israel to teach them the former religion in order that the plague of lions would be stayed.

The Israelitish priest who was sent to them taught the religion of Northern Israel. Remember that the priests of Northern Israel were NOT Levites. At the time of Jeroboam, the true priests of God were forced to flee to Jerusalem and Judea (II Chron. 11:14). Jeroboam set up his own form of religion with the calves at Dan and Bethel (I Kings 12:28-30). He moved the Holy Days from the seventh to the eighth month. He made priests of the lowest of the people, those who were NOT of Levi (I Kings 12:31).

All of these acts of Jeroboam were outright violations of God’s law. It was from the time of Jeroboam down to the time of Israel’s captivity, that the majority of Israel was NOT worshipping the True God at all! Jerusalem and God’s temple had been repudiated, and paganism had been introduced on a grand scale. When these transplanted Babylonians who were being afflicted by lions in Samaria asked for a priest of the former people — THEY GOT ONE! But that priest was one of the former calf-worshipping priests of the rebel Israelites. He was almost as pagan as the Babylonians themselves!

This priest of Israel taught the Babylonians (now called Samaritans) to adopt the former worship of the Northern Israelites. The priest taught them to revere YHVH as the “God of the Land.” Thus, these Samaritans finally took upon themselves the NAME: The People of YHVH; but their religion was outright paganism — a mixture of Israelitish calf-worship and Babylonianism — just as Simon Magus later was eager to appropriate Christ’s NAME, but continue his pagan abominations!

Notice what God says about the final condition of these Samaritans. “So these nations feared the Lord [calling themselves God’s people], AND served their graven images, both their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers [the Babylonians], so do they unto this day” (II Kings 17:41).

These people called themselves the worshippers of the True God, but were actually Babylonian idolaters.

What deities did the Samaritans worship?

It will pay us to notice the gods and goddesses that these forefathers of Simon Magus brought with them to Samaria. The people from the City of Babylon adored SUCCOTH-BENOTH; the Cuthites: NERGAL; the Hamathites: ASHIMA; the Avites: NIBHAZ and TAR-TAK; the Sepharvites: ADRAM-MELECH and ANAM-MELECH.

The first deity is SUCCOTH-BENOTH, a goddess. It was Semiramis in the form of Venus. Listen to Jones in his Proper Names of the O.T., p. 348. He says the name signifies “Tabernacles of daughters.” It means: “Chapels made of green boughs, which the men of Babylon, who had been transported into Samaria, erected in honor to Venus, and where their daughters were PROSTITUTED by the devotees of that abominable goddess. It was the custom of Babylon, the mother of harlots, and therefore HER SONS DID THE SAME THING IN SAMARIA.”

What about the god NERGAL of Cuth?

We are informed by McClintock and Strong’s Encyclopediathat the name signifies “the great man,” “the great hero” or “the god of the chase,” i.e., the Hunter. In other words, as the Encyclopedia further points out, he was a form of NIMROD. This Hunter-god was honored by the people of CUTH for Arabian tradition tells us that CUTH was the special city of NIMROD (vol. VI, p. 950).

The next god was that of Hamath: ASHIMA. Jones shows us that he was the great pagan god of propitiation, i.e., the god who bore the guilt of his worshippers (p. 42). This god was the pagan REDEEMER — the OSIRIS of Egyptian fame or the dying NIMROD.

The Avites worshipped NIBHAZ (masc. — the god of HADES) and TAR-TAK, “the mother of the gods”. This last-mentioned goddess was supposedly the mother of the Assyrian race, or, as Jones says, she was SEMIRAMIS (see p. 354).

The fifth Babylonian tribe worshiped pre-eminently two gods. ADRAM-MELECH and ANAM-MELECH. The first was the “god of fire,” the Sun or the Phoenician Ba’al(Jones, p. 14); the second was “the god of the flocks” or the Greek HERMES, the Good Shepherd (p. 32).

(It is self-evident that these gods and goddesses were the major Babylonian deities, and at the same time, the very gods and goddesses which the Roman Catholic Church deifies today as Christ, Mary, etc.)

Simon Magus grew up in this mixed-up society. The Samaritans called themselves the people of the True God, but religiously were practicing Babylonians. Simon himself was a priest of these people (the word “Magus” is the Chaldean/Persian word for “priest”). Thus, in the encounter of Peter with Simon Magus, we find the first real connection of true Christianity with the Chaldean priest who was prophesied to bring in its false counterpart. Next, we will see how Simon Magus managed to startle the Roman world with his plan to bring in one universal religion under the guise of Christianity.

Simon Magus Begins UNIVERSAL Church

History comes alive with the startling story of how Simon Magus — branded a FALSE PROPHET by the book of Acts — established HIS OWN UNIVERSAL church!

SIMON MAGUS was a Babylonian priest. He was a part of the Babylonian community that had been living in the land of Northern Israel ever since the Northern Ten Tribes were carried away captive by the Assyrians. God tells us that these Samaritans, as they were called, were claiming to be the true people of God while at the same time practicing many heathen rites which came directly from Babylon (II Kings 17:41).

This was the type of religious environment in which Simon Magus was born. This was the environment in which he commenced his own ministry and was finally proclaimed the “great one . . . the great power of God” — that is, God Himself (Acts 8:9-10).

He so swayed the whole of the Samaritan nation that all gave heed to him — they did for a very long time (Verses 9-11). But when he saw the potential of Christianity, he endeavored to buy an apostleship in the Church. Peter rebuked him sternly.

Simon Magus and HIS Universal Church

Simon Magus, after his rejection by Peter, began to fashion his own “Christian” church — a church of which HE was head — a church designed to completely overthrow the True Church of God. His idea was to blend together Babylonian teaching with some of the teachings of Christ — especially to take the name of Christ — and thus create ONE UNIVERSAL CHURCH! But a church with Babylonianism as its basis. Harnack, a church historian, states that Simon Magus “proclaimed a doctrine in which the Jewish faith was strangely and grotesquely mixed with BABYLONIAN myths, together with some Greek additions. The mysterious worship . . . in consequence of the widened horizon and the deepening religious feeling, finally the wild SYNCRETISM [that is, blending together of religious beliefs], whose aim WAS A UNIVERSAL RELIGION, all contributed to gain adherents for Simon” (Vol. 1, p. 244).

Simon can be classified among the major group of so-called Christians (and Simon called himself such), called by Harnack the: “decidedly anti-Jewish groups . . . . They advance much further in the criticism of the Old Testament and perceived the impossibility of saving it [that is, the Old Testament] for the Christian UNIVERSAL RELIGION. They rather connected this [universal] religion with the cultus-wisdom of BABYLON and SYRIA” (VoI. 1, p. 246). With this background, we can understand why Peter so strongly rebuked Simon for his Babylonian ideas. Peter prophesied that this was the man who was to be the “gall of bitterness, and bond of iniquity” to the True Church. Simon’s attitude was corrupt in the extreme!

The Bible shows he had been working through demons. And yet, he finally called himself a “Christian.” Dr. McGiffert, speaking of Simon Magus, says: “His effort to rival and surpass Jesus very likely began after his contact with the Christians that Luke records. His religious system was apparently a SYNCRETISM of Jewish and Oriental elements” (Hasting’sDictionary of the Apostolic Church, Vol. 2, p. 497).

Simon’s Later Activities

To read all the material that the writers of the second to the fourth centuries wrote about this man and his followers, would literally take days. He has been called by many of them “the father of HERESY,” and, apart from the Bible, the amount of literature devoted to him and his activities, shows he lived up to that title. Some of the following authorities to be brought forth were eyewitnesses of many of the things mentioned, and they were writing to others who were likewise eyewitnesses. Much of the testimony to be mentioned is conclusive and cannot be set aside.

With this evidence of Simon’s activities after his rejection by Peter, we will clearly be able to see why Luke thought it most important to tell the real condition of this man, proving that he was in actuality NEVER an Apostle of Christ. In this regard, notice the comment of Hasting’s Dictionary of the Apostolic Church,Vol. 2, p. 496: “But it need NOT be supposed that when Simon broke with the Christians HE RENOUNCED ALL HE HAD LEARNED. It is more probable that he carried some of the Christian ideas with him, and that he wove these into a system of his own. This system did contain some of the later germs of Gnosticism. Thus he became a leader of a retro-grade sect, perhaps nominally Christian, and certainly using some of the Christian terminology but in reality anti-Christian and exalting Simon himself to the central position which Christianity was giving to Jesus Christ” (Ibid). Simon Magus Blends Paganism With Christianity!

What Simon did was to bring the Babylonian and Greek religious beliefs into a form of Christianity in order to bring about, as Harnack says, a UNIVERSAL [Catholic] religion.

“The amalgam of paganism and Christianity which was characteristic of Gnosticism, and which was especially obvious in the Simonian system, is readily explicable in the teaching of Simon Magus, who, according to the story in Acts, was brought into intimate contact with Christian teaching without becoming a genuine member” (Ibid., p. 496).

We further find in Schaff’s History of the Churcha reference to this Simon Magus. He says: “The author, or first representative of this baptized HEATHENISM, according to the uniform testimony of Christian antiquity, is Simon Magus, who unquestionably adulterated Christianity with pagan ideas and practices, and gave himself out, in a pantheistic style for an emanation of God” Apostolic Christianity, ol. 2, p. 566).

Simon only used the name of Christianity to bring about his own desired ends. The Dictionary of Religion and Ethicssays that Simon was “a false Messiah, who practiced magical arts and subsequently attempted, by the aid and with the sanction of Christianity, to set up a rival UNIVERSAL [Catholic] RELIGION” (Vol. 11, p. 514). Again, what do the histories tell us Simon’s doctrines consisted of primarily?

“Two independent traditions profess to preserve the teaching of Simon, the one betraying the influence of Alexandrian allegory, the other of Syrian and Babylonian religion” Dictionary of Religion and Ethics, Vol. 11, p. 516). It is no wonder that Luke hits hard at the infamy of Simon — for Simon claimed to be a Christian — even an Apostle — and yet was preaching Babylonian paganism. HE WAS CALLING PAGANISM BY THE NAME OF CHRISTIANITY!

“Evidently the Simonian heresy always had a Christian tinge. This made it more dangerous to Christians than a Gnostic which did not affect any Christian influence. Luke therefore would be anxious to disclose the true circumstances that accounted for the origin of the sect — circumstances highly discreditable to Simon” Hasting’s Bible Dictionary, p. 498).

The reason Luke recorded this encounter with Simon was its far-reaching effects. As Hasting’s explains, the important reason was that of “Luke’s well-known plan of describing THE FIRST MEETING between Christianity and rival systems” (Ibid., p. 498).

Luke gives in detail the principal character who established the so-called Christian counterpart of the Truth in the Apostles’ days. This is the reason the Apostles in their Church letters many times mention the false system as ALREADY IN EXISTENCE, but fail to describe its origin. They didn’t have to. That was already done RIGHT AT THE FIRST by Luke!

Who History Says This Simon Became!

“When Justin Martyr wrote [152 A.D.] his Apology, the sect of the Simonians appears to have been formidable, for he speaks four times of their founder, Simon; and we need not doubt that he identified him with the Simon of the Acts. He states that he was a Samaritan, adding that his birthplace was a village called Gitta; he describes him as a formidable magician, and tells that he came to ROME in the days of Claudius Caesar (45 A.D.), and made such an impression by his magical powers, THAT HE WAS HONORED AS A GOD, a statue being erected to him on the Tiber, between the two bridges, bearing the inscription ‘Simoni deo Sancto’ (i.e., the holy god Simon)” Dictionary of Christian Biography, Vol. 4, p. 682).

That these things actually happened CANNOT BE DOUBTED! Justin was writing to the Roman people at the time and they could certainly have exposed Justin’s credulity if what he said was not so. And, that a statue of Simon was actually erected is definite, for Justin asks the authorities in Rome to destroy it!

There are many writers, who lived in Rome itself, who afterwards repeated Justin’s account. Those who want to reject these clear statements have nothing in their favor. Justin is clearly giving us fact!

Hasting’s Dictionary of the Apostolic Church,Vol 2, p. 496, states that there is “very slight evidence on which to reject so precise a statement as Justin makes; a statement he would scarcely have hazarded in an apology addressed to Rome, where every person had the means of ascertaining its accuracy. If he made a mistake, it must have been at once exposed, and other writers would not have frequently repeated the story as they have done.”

At the time of Claudius, it was illegal to erect a statue to any man as a god or greatly honored person unless the permission of the Emperor and the Senate had been secured. The statue was still standing in Justin’s day (152 A.D.), people were still giving regard to it.

There are many other accounts of Simon’s traveling to Rome and becoming one of the great gods to the city and to the people of Rome. There are records which show that Simon “prophesies that Rome will be the scene of his crowning glory, when he will be adored as a god” Dictionary of Religion & Ethics, Vol. 11, p. 522). Simon Peter NOT With Simon Magus in Rome.

Later, about the fourth century, a flood of works came out about Peter encountering Simon Magus in Rome and overthrowing him. But these works are clearly fiction. Almost all scholars realize the absurdity of maintaining such a thing. In the first place, it can be Biblically shown that Peter the Apostle was NEVER in Rome when these fictitious writings say he should be.

It was NOT Simon Peter who went to Rome to become Apostle to the Gentiles, but the SIMON in Rome was SIMON MAGUS!

That Peter the Apostle was not with Simon Magus in Rome is made plain by the Encyclopedia Biblica, col. 4554. “The attempt has been made to meet this by pointing out that church fathers mention the presence of SIMON in Rome while at the same time NOT speaking of controversies between him and PETER. This is indeed true of Justin [one of the earliest witnesses — 152 A.D. who knows nothing of any presence of Peter in Rome at all, as also of Irenaeus.”

Not only did Justin feel that Peter was NOT in Rome at the time, but his deliberate silence shows he didn’t want to perpetrate such fiction. After all, Justin lived very early in the history of the church, and the legend of the Apostle Peter’s being in Rome HADN’T GOT STARTED YET! Continuing with the Encyclopedia Biblica about Justin’s reference to SIMON MAGUS: “One part of this tradition — that about Simon’s presence in Rome — he [Justin] found himself able to accept [in fact he held it to be confirmed by the statue, which he brought into connection with Simon]; the other — that about Peter’s presence in Rome — he was unable to accept” (col. 4555).

Of course Justin was unable to accept the latter teaching. The fact is, Simon Peter was NOT in Rome. It was another Simon who went there — SIMON MAGUS, the one bringing “Christianity” to them in the guise of the old Babylonian mystery religions. Simon came to Rome with the grand idea of e stablishing a UNIVERSAL RELIGION in the NAME of Christianity! And what is remarkable, he did just that!

Next, we will see how Simon Magus became later confused with Simon Peter and how he cleverly brought into “Christianity” the mystery religions of Babylon.

Peter Was NOT The First Pope!

Here are TEN solid, Biblical proofs that Peter was not at Rome. Mark each in your Bible and understand them well, so YOU will not be deceived.

THE PRIMACY of the Roman Catholic Church depends upon one fundamental doctrine: the claim that Peter was the first Bishop of Rome and the founder of the Roman Church.

The teaching of Catholic historians tells us that Simon Peter went to Rome at the same time as Simon Magus in order to thwart his evils. This was during the reign of Claudius. After successfully combating the Magus, they tell us, Peter assumed the Roman bishopric and ruled it until the Neronian persecutions of 68 A.D., during which Peter was supposed to have been crucified upside down on Vatican hill. This is the basic story and Catholic writers never shirk in attempting to defend it. Some of them say that this general account is one of the most provable of historical events. But is it? The fact remains, many ecclesiastical authors of the second century, Justin Martyr among them, give information completely negating Peter’s supposed Roman bishopric. This is admitted by virtually all scholars — except conservative Catholics (Ency. Biblica, col. 4554). But, more important than this, the records of the True Church of God — the writings of the New Testament — absolutely refute the Roman Catholic claim.

It is time that the world gets its eyes open to the truth of this matter — the truth, which is clearly revealed in the Word of God. The Apostle Peter was NEVER the Bishop of Rome!

The Bible Teaching

There are ten major New Testament proofs which completely disprove the claim that Peter was in Rome from the time of Claudius until Nero. These Biblical points speak for themselves and ANY ONE of them is sufficient to prove the ridiculousness of the Catholic claim. Notice what God tells us! The truth IS conclusive!

PROOF ONE: We should consider Christ’s commission to Peter. This is often very embarrassing to Catholics, because Christ commissioned Peter to become chief minister to the CIRCUMCISED, not to uncircumcised Gentiles.

“The gospel of the CIRCUMCISION was unto Peter; (For He that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)” (Gal. 2:7-8).

Here we have it in the clearest of language. It was Paul, NOT Peter, who was commissioned to be the chief Apostle to the Gentiles. And who was it that wrote the Epistle to the ROMANS? It certainly WASN’T Peter!

“And when James, Cephas [Peter], and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace [i.e., the gift or office] that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision” (Gal. 2:9).

Paul further mentioned his special office as the Gentile Apostle in II Timothy 1:11: “Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.”

PETER is NOWHERE called the Apostle to the Gentiles! This precludes him from going to Rome to become the head of a Gentile community.

PROOF TWO: Paul specifically told the Gentile Romans that HE had been chosen to be their Apostle, not Peter. “I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable” (Rom. 15:16).

How clear! Paul had the direct charge from Christ in this matter. He even further relates in Romans 15:18 that it was Christ who had chosen him “to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed.”

PAUL Established Only TRUE Church at Rome

PROOF THREE: We are told by Paul himself that it was he — not Peter — who was going to officially found the Roman Church. “I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established” (Rom. 1:11).

Amazing! The Church at Rome had not been ESTABLISHED officially even by 55 or 56 A.D. However, the Catholics would have us believe that Peter had done this some ten years before — in the reign of Claudius.

What nonsense! Of course you understand that NEITHER Peter nor Paul established the Catholic Church! But these proofs are given to illustrate that it is utterly impossible for PETER to have been in any way associated with ANY Church at Rome.

PROOF FOUR: We find Paul not only wanting to establish the Church at Rome, but he emphatically tells us that his policy was NEVER to build upon another man’s foundation. “Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man’s foundation” (Rom. 15:20). If Peter had “founded” the Roman Church some ten years before this statement, this represents a real affront to Peter. This statement alone is proof that Peter had never been in Rome before this time to “found” any church.

Peter Not in Rome

PROOF FIVE: At the end of Paul’s Epistle to the Romans he greets no fewer than 28 different individuals, but never mentions Peter once! See Romans 16 — read the whole chapter!

Remember, Paul greeted these people in 55 or 56 A.D. Why didn’t he mention Peter? — Peter simply wasn’t there! PROOF SIX: Some four years after Paul wrote Romans, he was conveyed as a prisoner to Rome in order to stand trial before Caesar. When the Christian community in Rome heard of Paul’s arrival, they all went to meet him. “When THE brethren [of Rome] heard of us, they came to meet us” (Acts 28:15).

Again, there is not a single mention of Peter among them. This would have been extraordinary had Peter been in Rome, for Luke always mentions by name important Apostles in his narration of Acts. But he says nothing of Peter’s meeting with Paul.

Why? Because Peter was not in Rome!

PROOF SEVEN: When Paul finally arrived at Rome, the first thing he did was to summon “the chief of the Jews together” (Acts 28:17) to whom he “expounded and testified the kingdom of God” (Verse 23). But what is amazing is that these chief Jewish elders claimed they knew very little even about the basic teachings of Christ. All they knew was that ‘‘as concerning this sect, we know that everywhere it is spoken against” (Verse 22). Then Paul began to explain to them the basic teachings of Christ on the Kingdom of God. Some believed — the majority didn’t.

Now, what does all this mean? It means that if Peter, who was himself a strongly partisan Jew, had been preaching constantly in Rome for 14 long years before this time, AND WAS STILL THERE — how could these Jewish leaders have known so little about even the basic truths of Christianity? This again is clear proof Peter had not been in Rome prior to 59 A.D.

No Mention of Peter in Paul’s Letters

PROOF EIGHT: After the rejection of the Jewish elders, Paul remained in his own hired house for two years. During that time he wrote Epistles to the Ephesians, the Philippians, the Colossians, Philemon, and to the Hebrews. And while Paul mentions others as being in Rome during that period, he nowhere mentions Peter. The obvious reason is — the Apostle to the circumcision wasn’t there!

PROOF NINE: With the expiration of Paul’s two year’s imprisonment, he was released. But about four years later (near 65 A.D.), he was again sent back a prisoner to Rome. This time he had to appear before the throne of Caesar and was sentenced to die. Paul describes these circumstances at length in II Timothy.

In regard to his trial, notice what Paul said in II Timothy 4:16. “At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men [in Rome] forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.”

This means, if we believe the Catholics, that Peter forsook Paul, for they tell us Peter was very much present at Rome during this time! Peter once denied Christ, but that was before he was converted. To believe that Peter was in Rome during Paul’s trial, is untenable!

PROOF TEN: The Apostle Paul distinctly informs us that Peter was not in Rome in 65 A.D. — even though Catholics say he was. Paul said: “Only Luke is with me” (II Tim. 4:11).

The truth becomes very plain. Paul wrote TO Rome; he had been IN Rome; and at the end wrote at least six epistles FROM Rome; and not only does he NEVER mention Peter, but at the last moment says: “Only Luke is with me.” Peter, therefore, was never Bishop of Rome!

Where Was Peter?

Near 45 A.D., we find Peter being cast into prison at Jerusalem (Acts 12:3, 4). In 49 A.D., he was still in Jerusalem, this time attending the Jerusalem Council. About 51 A.D., he was in Antioch of Syria where he got into differences with Paul because he wouldn’t sit or eat with Gentiles. Strange that the “Roman bishop” would have nothing to do with Gentiles in 51 A.D.!

Later in about 66 A.D., we find him in the city of Babylon among the Jews (I Pet. 5:13). Remember that Peter was the Apostle to the CIRCUMCISED. Why was he in Babylon? Because history shows that there were as many Jews in the Mesopotamian areas in Christ’s time as there were in Palestine. It is no wonder we find him in the East. Perhaps this is the reason why scholars say Peter’s writings are strongly Aramaic in flavor — the type of Aramaic spoken in Babylon. Why of course! Peter was used to their eastern dialect.

At the times the Catholics believe Peter was in Rome, the Bible clearly shows he was elsewhere. The evidence is abundant and conclusive. By paying attention to God’s own words, no one need be deceived. Peter was NEVER the Bishop of Rome!

A “PETER” Was in Rome Two Thousand Years B.C.!

Who was the first “Peter” of Rome? What were his successors called? The history of ancient religion reveals the plain truth about the original Peter of Rome. The truth about his real successors is now clear to us — but hidden to the world. Here is what history shows us of the ORIGINAL Peter of Rome. The truth is startling!

THE BIBLE records that in the earliest ages, right after the Flood of Noah, men began to rebel against the teachings of God. They began to build cities, found religions, bring in idolatries. Pagan temples were erected — the Tower of Babel came on the scene. All o these things started within the first two hundred years after the Flood.

Pagan Gods Called “Peters”

Surprising as it may sound, it is a well-known fact among students of ancient religion, that the chief pagan gods worshipped in the early civilizations were generally known by the name PETER. It is also known that the priests of those heathen gods were also called PETERS. That same name in one form or another, was even applied to the pagan TEMPLES consecrated to those gods.

Notice what Bryant, in his work Ancient Mythology says: “Not only the gods, but the Hierophantae [special priests], in most temples; and those priests in particular, who were occupied in the celebration of mysteries, were styled PATRES” (vol. 1, p. 354).

This is significant! The word PATRE is the same as PATOR or PETER in meaning and pronunciation. Bryant continues: “PATRE was undoubtedly a religious term . . . . the same as PATOR and PATORA.” The ancient pagan gods, the priests who were their ministers, and their sacred sanctuaries — their temples — were ALL called PETORS or PETERS (either spelling is acceptable since vowels are fluid in all languages — especially the Semitic).

The Meaning of “Peter”

What did the word PATOR or PETER really mean to the ancients? Surprisingly enough, the word is in the Bible. When Moses wrote about the Egyptian priests, he shows they were called PETERS or “interpreters” — interpreters of the ancient Egyptian mysteries.

Notice Genesis 41:8. Davidson shows in his Hebrew Lexiconthat the consonantal word P-T-R (PETER) signifies “to interpret” or “interpretation” (p. 638; of Brown, Driver, Briggs, p. 837; and Gesenius, p. 877 and p. 843). Bryant points out that “the term always related to oracle interpretation” (p. 308).

The pagan priests of the mystery religions were called PATORS or PETERS. They had the power to interpret the heathen mysteries. This is further brought out by Bunson in his Hieroglyph, page 545, where he shows that the Egyptians — as the Bible also indicates — called their “interpreters” or priests: PETR, that is, PETER.

The term PETER was one of the earliest names for the pagan gods. It lasted as late as Greek and Roman times. But by that time the term also took on a widespread secular meaning. It came generally to mean “father” or “parent.” But this was not its primary meaning at all. Bryant continues: “The word PATER, when used in the religious addresses of the Greeks and Romans, meant NOT, as is supposed, a father or parent; but related to the divine influence of the Deity, called by the people of the East, PATOR” (Ibid., p. 353).

In many ancient religions the father was the chief priest of the family. That is the reason the head of the family became known as PATOR or “father.” The father, because of his priestly position, became known as the ARCHPATOR, or, as it is commonly rendered, PATRIARCH. This is how the term PATOR came to signify, in a secular sense, “a father.” But originally, it always meant, “interpreter” — especially one of the mystery religions.

Chief Pagan Gods Called PETERS

We have clear evidence showing that the ancient Romans called their chief gods PETERS — the divine interpreters. The early Roman writer Lucilius, mentions Neptune, Liber, Saturn, Mars, Janus and Quirnus — all were PATERS. (See the Lucilii Fragments.) He did not mean they were “father-gods.” He meant they were gods of PETER-rank — the chief gods.

Lucilius doesn’t exhaust the list. In fact, he leaves out JUPITER, the “Father” of the Roman gods. But it was unnecessary to mention him as a “PETER-god.” Due to his high rank, the title PETER was actually incorporated as a part of his name. He was called JU-PETER.

Gladstone in his work on the antiquities of Greece, shows that Jupiter and the Greek god ZEUS were one and the same, JU-PETER was the Roman way of saying ZEUS-PETER, the chief god of the Greeks (Homer and the Homeric Age, vol. I, p. 287), PETER was the name that came to signify high rank among the gods — and among their priests, Greeks Used Term “Peter”.

The Romans were not the only ones who called their gods PETERS, The Classical Manual reveals that the Greeks used the term PETER (or its variants) as often as did the Romans. For example, Apollo was called PATRIUS and his followers APOLLO PATRIUS (p. 23). Pausanius tells us that Artemis and Bacchus were called PATORA, that is PETER-gods (Books 1, 2). Pindar speaks of Poseidon Petraios. He says the Thessalians worshipped Neptune under this title (Pyth. Ode 4).

In Egypt, the Ammonian priests — who headed one of the chief pagan oracles of ancient Egypt — were called Petors, as Bryant also says: “The chief instrument (idol) in their hands was styled PIETAURUM” (Ibid., p. 356). This idol on many occasions took the form of a pole or upright stake (Ibid., p. 358). The pagan god Artemis is often pictured standing by a stone pillar which is called PATROA or PETER (Pausanius, Bk. 1). These pillars, and all the phallic symbols like them, came to be known as PETRAS — the sacred PETERS. (It is still common among the vulgar to refer to the male member by its original religious name — PETER.) These phallic Peter-stones can be found all over the ancient world. In fact, there is not a mention of an ancient pagan oracle temple without some notice being given to a PETER emblem — the sacred stone.

Like the word PATOR — which came to indicate simply a “father” or “parent” — the word PETRA came to mean any large stone. But in the earliest times, it conveyed only the original religious meaning.

“The term PETRA came at length to signify any rock or stone and to be in a manner confined to that meaning. But in the first ages it was ALWAYS TAKEN IN A RELIGIOUS SENSE; and related to the shrines of Osiris, or the Sun (Baal), and to other oracles which were supposed to be exhibited” (Bryant, p. 359). In other words, the term PETRA meant the sacred PETER-stone — a stone usually phallic in design.

“Petras” in Pagan World

Notice some references to these sacred PETRAS found throughout the pagan world.

At the temple of Delphi in Greece, the chief object in the ritual was the PETRA (Pausanius, Bk. 10). At the Acropolis in Athens, Euripides tells us, the niches which held the idols were called the PETRAE (verse 935). It is well-known that even the sacred book which was used in the celebration of the Eleusinian mysteries, was entitled “Book PETROMA,” PETER-ROMA– PETER’S BOOK (see Potter’s Antiquities, vol. 1, p. 356).

Remember that the pagan temples were also called after the PETERS. The temple at Elis in Greece was called PETRON (Lycophron, verse 159). Pytho at Delphi was called PETRAessa (Olymp. Ode 6). The oracle temple dedicated to Apollo in Asia Minor was called the PATARA and the oracle there was called PATAReus (“Eus” means “person who, one”) — (Lempriere’sClassical Dictionary, p. 438).

Also PATRAE — an ancient town where DIANA had a temple (p. 438), and the oracle in Achaia was called PATRA (Jones, Proper Names of the Old Testament, p. 296).

Examples are too numerous to mention, but this should be enough to show that the name PETER, or its variants, figured very high in every phase of pagan worship. These PETER stones and temples were found all over the ancient world.

“There is in the history of every oracular temple some legend about a stone; some reference to the word PETRA” (Bryant, p. 362).

Origin of Ancient PETER-worship

PETER-worship can be traced directly back to MESOPOTAMIA. It was there that idolatry had its beginning. There is where the Tower of Babel was erected. It is no wonder that in Mesopotamia we find the first mention of a PETER-temple. In Numbers 23; 22:4-5 we read that the false prophet Balaam was called to prophesy against Israel. Further, in Deuteronomy 23:4, we read that this Balaam had been called from “Pethor of Mesopotamia” — that is, from the PETER of MESOPOTAMIA.

This Pethor or Peter (either spelling is correct) was the place of an oracle temple. In the Dictionary of Proper Names of the Old Testament, edited by A. Jones, we find that Balaam’s PETHOR was the sacred high place “where there was an oracular temple, and hence called PETHOR, and PETHORA, which meant, place of interpretation, or oracular temple. Here was, no doubt, a college of priests of whom Balaam had been appointed chief PATORA” (p. 296).

Yes, Balaam was the chief PATORA (Peter) of the PETHOR (Peter-temple) of Mesopotamia. It was customary for each pagan country to have a chief oracle or tempIe. The PETHOR or PETER in Greece was Delphi, In Egypt it was Ammon. In Asia Minor it was Lycia — and later Pergamos. Professor Jones tells about the other PETHORS throughout the world.

Notice: “These ‘high places’ were scattered about in many parts. There was a city of ‘interpretation’ in Acaia, called PATRAE, and another in Lycia, called PATARA, where Apollo had an oracle. PETHOR was in after times celebrated for the worship of Ailat” (Ibid., p. 296).

Bala’am “Chief Peter”

But Bala’amcame from PETHOR on the Euphrates — the oracle of Mesopotamia. He was no less than the CHIEF PATORA (as Jones mentions) of the VERY HOME of idolatry and false religion.

The very meaning of the name “Bala’am” shows he considered himself as sitting in the very chair of Nimrod, the beginner of the mystery religions. The name “Bala’am” means in Semitic tongues “Conqueror of the People.” This was the exact proper name the Greeks used to designate NIMROD. They called him NICOLAUS, which also meant “Conqueror of the People.”

In the New Testament we read of people following the doctrines of NICOLAUS (Nimrod). They were called Nicolaitanes. McClintock and Strong’s Encyclopaediaspeaking of them says: “The sect of the Nicolaitanes is described as following the doctrine or teaching of Bala’am — and it appears not improbable that this name is employed symbolically, as NICOLAUS is equivalent in meaning to Bala’am” (vol. 1, p. 621).

Yes, the two names NICOLAUS and BALAAM are exactly the same in meaning — they both point to NIMROD, the originator of paganism. We also find that when Simon Magus (alias Simon Peter) “Christianized” the religion of NIMROD, John the Apostle plainly labels his followers NICOLAITANES and followers of BALAAM. All of the heresies mentioned in the Seven Churches are of only ONE system — the system of NIMROD, under the leadership of Simon Magus.

Bala’am Represents Nimrod

The name of Balaam is another name for NIMROD. But, understand this clearly — the “Bala’am” who met Israel on their way out of Egypt was NOT the original Nimrod. He had been killed several hundred years before. This Bala’ammerely represented Nimrod as his successor. We are all aware that Joshua, being a successor of Moses, was looked on as sitting in Moses’ seat. Even in Christ’s time the scribes and Pharisees sat in Moses’ seat of authority (Matt. 23:1-4).

So it was with Bala’am. He maintained one of the proper names of Nimrod to signify that he was the legitimate successor of the Arch-Rebel. And to emphasize his authority, Bala’amcould point to his headquarters as the PETHOR or PETER of Mesopotamia. Therefore, the Moabites in their hatred for Israel called for the chief priest of the pagan world. They ignored the priesthood of their own national gods — going to the highest authority they knew! Josephus represents this false prophet as “Bala’am, who lived by the Euphrates, and was the greatest of the prophets of that time” (Ant. IV, 6,2). Bala’amwas the successor of Nimrod — the PONTIFEX MAXIMUS of the pagan world. His headquarters was the “PETER on the Euphrates” — the SAINT PETER’S OF MESOPOTAMIA, the chief oracle of paganism. This is a shocking revelation — but one which stands the test of the Bible and ancient religious history.

PETER-gods Come to Rome

It is well-known history that in the earliest ages, the center of civilization was in Asia and Mesopotamia. In later times, political power passed to the Greeks and then to the Romans. It is also well-recognized that the religions of Asia, by Greek and Roman times, had also passed to the West. By the First Century, the mystery religions of the Babylonians were centered primarily in Rome! By that time, Rome had become the chief city of the world. Early records mention this transference of pagan religion from Asia right to the city of Rome. The First Century book by Virgil, The Aenid, in Imperial times became a type of Roman “Bible.” It gives the story of one Aeneas who wandered away from Asia right after the Trojan War and settled in Italy.

The main theme of the book concerns the so-called “sacred task” of Aeneas: bringing the pagan gods of Asia to Italy! Virgil spares no words in glorifying Aeneas’ journey. He shows how Aeneas brought the Romans ORGANIZED RELIGION — with all the pagan gods and goddesses necessary for performing it. And most important: Virgil constantly says that these deities were the PATRII of Asia. (See the CIassical Manual, page 592, for full information confirming this.) These gods and goddesses were the PETER-deities — the chief deities which were destined to favor Rome and Italy above all other countries.

Asia had been the original home of the PETER-gods. Through Virgil we find them being transported to the doorstep of Rome. And why not? By the First Century, Rome was considered “the home of the gods.” Prudentius, an ancient Roman himself, says that there wasn’t a single pagan deity that did not in the end find its headquarters at Rome.

Notice what he says: “There came to be one single home for all earth-born gods, and you may count as many temples of gods AT ROME as tombs of heroes in all the world” (Symmachus, 189 to 197).

It could hardly be clearer! By Imperial times, Rome became the headquarters of pagan religion. It was the chief oracle of the world, the PETER for the earth.

The Chief Gods of Rome

There were two gods of ancient Rome which were pre-eminently worshipped as PETER-gods. One was JU-PETER (Zeus-Peter). The other, says the Classical Manual, was JANUS, called PATER or PETER (see page 389). Sometimes these two gods are confused. But they are to be reckoned as distinct — relative to Roman paganism of the First Century. The latter god, JANUS-PETER, had some interesting roles to play in the pagan religion at Rome. These roles answer the question: Who was the original Peter of Rome? Notice a brief history and some of the activities of this god.

Plutarch in his life of Numa, gives us the identity of JANUS. Originally, according to Plutarch, Janus was an ancient prince who reigned in the infancy of the world. He brought men from a rude and savage life to a mild and rational system. HE was the first to build cities and the first to establish government over men. After his death he was deified. There can be no mistaking who this JANUS was! This title was just another of the many names of Nimrod. This ancient prince who was violently killed, was later deified by the pagan religions. Because of his high authority, he was called a PATOR or PETER.

Here are some of the religious activities of which JANUS-PETER was in charge. It was JANUS-PETER who was pre-eminent in interpreting the times — especially prophecy. “The past and the future was always present in his mind” (Classical Manual, pages 388 and 389). He was pictured as being double-faced. Plutarch said this was a symbol of his endeavor to change men from barbarism to civilization — that is, bring them to the civilization of NIMROD. One of JANUS’ roles, after his deification as a god, was the continuation of his sacred task of “civilizing” men. But let us go a little farther.

Janus-Peter Had “Keys

The PETER-god JANUS was to the ancient Romans the “KEEPER OF THE GATES OF HEAVEN AND EARTH.” “HE IS REPRESENTED WITH A KEY IN ONE HAND . . . as emblematic of his presiding over GATES and highways.” How shocking! The pagan Romans were calling their JANUS a PETER hundreds of years before the birth of the Apostle Peter. It was this JANUS who was in charge of the “pearly gates”! The very word JANUS means “gates,” that is, the one in charge of the GATES.

The Classical Manual continues: “Ovid speaks of him [Janus] in the first book of his Fasti; his face is double to denote his equal empire over the heavens and the earth — [does not the Pope claim the same power today?] — and that all things are open and shut to him AT HIS WILL — [he was infallible and answered to no one for his actions, so the Pope] — that he governs the universe [Catholicum], and alone possesses the power of making the world revolve on its axis; THAT HE PRESIDES OVER THE GATES OF HEAVEN.”

Catholics Claim “Keys”

The Catholic Church claims Peter gave to it the keys of the gates of heaven and that no one will enter into God’s presence unless that church opens the gates. The very word “Cardinal” means “hinge.” The Cardinals of the Roman Church are the HINGES upon which the GATE — the Pope — is able to turn.

The Classical Manual continues: “the successions of day and night are regulated by his influence; and that the east and the west is at one moment open to his view.” It was JANUS-PETER who also controlled the calendar by his priests. The first month of the year was named after him to show his control over the years. So, today, we still have JANU-ary as the first month. The Catholic Church, like the priests of Janus, feels it has this same authority over the calendar today.

Another Name for Nimrod

Finally, it is necessary to notice at least one more name under which Nimrod masqueraded — the name MITHRAS, the Persian name for Baal, the sun god. This Mithras-worship of Nimrod was popular and was one of the last to plant itself in Rome, but it had a very old theme — outright PETER-worship. “Mithras was styled by the nations of the East PATOR; his temples were PATRA and PETRA and his festivals PATRICA” (Bryant, vol. 1, p. 370). Yes, even Nimrod under the name Mithras, the sun-god, was called PETER!!!

Sir James Frazer tells us of this religion of Mithra — the religion of the pagan PETER — coming to Rome. Notice it. “Among the gods of eastern origin who in the decline of the ancient world competed against each other for the allegiance of the West was the old Persian deity of MITHRA. The immense popularity of his worship is attested by the monuments illustrative of it which have been found scattered in profusion ALL OVER THE ROMAN EMPIRE. In respect both of doctrines and of rites the cult of MITHRA appears to have presented many points of resemblance not only to the religion of the Mother of the Gods but also to Christianity” (Golden Bough, St. Martin’s ed., vol. 1, p. 471).

Catholics Accept “Peter” Worship

What he means is that the Christianity of the third and fourth centuries had already by that time inherited so much from pagan beliefs, that this PETER-religion coming from the East found many similarities with Roman Christianity. The Catholics had already, by this late date, accepted the pagan festivals of Christmas, Easter and a host of other rituals and beliefs. Frazer continues: “Taken altogether, the coincidences of the Christian with the heathen festivals are too close and too numerous to be accidental” (Ibid., p. 475). It was this pagan MITHRAISM which gave most to “Christianity.”

Bryant shows that the chief name of MITHRA in the East was PATOR or PETER — “his temples were PATRA and PETRA and his festivals PATRICA.” Everything connected with this ancient pagan religion can be traced right back to the original PETER — the original “interpreter of the mysteries” who was none other than NIMROD. This is the same mystery system which the Roman Catholics have absorbed.

Sits in “Peter’s” Chair

No wonder the Roman Catholic Church claims to sit in PETER’S CHAIR and that the chief temple of the world is today called SAINT PETER’S. That Church has accepted the practices and symbols of the oldest pagan religion on earth: PETER-worship — the religion of Nimrod.

This pagan religion was believed and practiced before Christ ever told the Apostle Peter and the other Apostles that they were to have the “keys of the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 16:19). Satan counterfeited God’s true religion centuries before Christ came!

This was Satan’s attempt to smother God’s true religion with a counterfeit that to the untrained eye looks genuine. He did this principally through Simon Magus (Pater) who amalgamated all the pagan religions into one UNIVERSAL religion and called the system “Christianity.”

The Bible tells us to come completely out of this false religious system masquerading under the name of Christianity. We are to get back to the faith once delivered to the saints. We can thank God for His goodness in giving to His Church the TRUTH.

Simonites Establish UNIVERSAL CHURCH

Elevating his personal teachings above the Bible, and preaching a “no-works” doctrine of salvation, Simon Magus soon had a universal, popular following. Deified by the Romans, he was buried on Vatican Hill. Read how it happened in this article.

SIMON Magus, just like his Samaritan forefathers, deliberately blended together the teachings of Babylon with Biblical phrases.

One of his main intentions was to appropriate a Christian vocabulary to the Babylonian ceremonial system. In other words, he kept on with his heathenism, but now called his system “Christian” in origin.

Let’s go on. “But he [Simon] promised that the world should be dissolved, and that those who were his own should be redeemed. And accordingly, HIS PRIESTS, Irenaeus tells us [yes, Simon established a priesthood], led lascivious lives, used magic and incantations, made philtres, HAD FAMILIAR SPIRITS by whose aid they were able to trouble with dreams those whom they would. They had IMAGES of Simon and Helen, in the forms respectively of JUPITER and MINERVA” (Dict. of Christian Biography, vol. 4, p. 683).

Simon Honored as Jupiter

People who had demonic powers as Simon did, were honoured as gods in the first century — even sacrifices were offered to them. Does this seem unlikely? Then read Acts 14:11-13. After seeing the great miracles that Paul and Barnabas had done through the Holy Spirit, Luke says: “When the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men. And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercury.” Then the priest of Jupiter came out to offer them sacrifice.

Paul and Barnabas “rent their clothes” at such action. What would SIMON MAGUS have done? Or rather, what did Simon Magus do? He let the Roman Senate with the approval of the Emperor Claudius deify him as a god and erect a statue to him. And, the people who followed SIMON called him JUPITER — at the same time calling themselves Christians. The statue that must have been dedicated to Simon was in the likeness of the chief god of the pagan world — the god that desolated the Holy Place in God’s temple — Jupiter Capitolinus.

The Death of Simon Magus

The records regarding Simon’s death vary widely. Many of the stories try to incorporate some fiction from the Greek and Egyptian myths to enhance the reader’s interest in this fascinating character. But the earliest records say that he was buried in Rome after a long period of great honour and deification.

It is not clearly known where Simon Magus alias Simon Pater or Simon Jupiter was buried. But this much is known. The place of burial for ALL prophets and holy men of the Romans was in the sacred cemetery on Vatican Hill. This much is certain.

Notice what Werner Keller in his The Bible as Historysays about the so-called burial of the Catholics’ Peter. (Before reading Keller’s statement, let us remember that he is a thorough-going Catholic and firmly, himself, believed that the Apostle Peter was buried in Rome. However, the Bible shows nothing of the kind. Now, let’s read Keller’s comment — the official comment of the Roman Catholic Church):

“On the night of his death on the cross Peter’s followers BURIED his body. As in the case of Jesus on the hill of Calvary it was wrapped in linen and secretly taken to a PAGAN BURIAL GROUND on the Via Cornelia, behind the stone structure of the arena. This PAGAN CEMETERY lay on a knoll called VATICANUS: the Latin word ‘vatis’ means a ‘prophet’ or ‘SOOTHSAYER’. In days gone by there had been an Etruscan oracle on this spot” (p. 368). What an admission!

Keller ought to have better sense to know that this Peter buried in this cemetery, of all places, could NOT be the Apostle Peter. In the first place, Peter was a Jew, and they had to be buried in their own cemeteries. And even if by a happen-chance a Jew could be buried in a Roman cemetery, it is most unlikely that a Jew — especially one who attacked the Roman religion as the Apostle Peter did — would ever have been allowed into the most holy of pagan cemeteries! This cemetery was reserved for prophets, soothsayers and the great ones of pagan Rome. It would be as sensible to say that Hitler could find a place of burial in Westminster Abbey. And too, can you imagine TRUE Christians searching out a PAGAN CEMETERY — the chief one — in which to bury the chief Christian Apostle, the inveterate enemy of PAGANISM?

This place, of all places, could not be the place of the Apostle Peter’s burial — even if he had been in Rome. But, there is really no better place for the burial of SIMON MAGUS. He had been, and was being, honoured as a god — not only by the people of Rome, but even by the Emperor and the Senate.

Yes, Keller and his Catholic friends have undoubtedly found a SIMON, but not the Apostle Peter.

The Catholic Church Accepts SIMON MAGUS’ Teachings

We have the record of history which tells us that Simon’s teaching spread like wildfire — especially in Rome where he was honoured as a god. In fact, after going there he made that city his headquarters. But let us recall that the followers of Simon called themselves TRUE Christians.

Simon steadfastly adhered to this. In fact, it finally became the desired name for his followers to use. The names Simonians and Samaritans began to die out in the 2nd century A.D. Justin tells us that some were still going by the parent name in his day (152 A.D.). But by the time of Origen (220 A.D.), he states that there were hardly 30 people in the world which went by the parent name. Yet Eusebius, who lived about 100 years later, said they were indeed still numerous all over the world.

The fact is, they were divorcing themselves from the use of the name SIMON or Samaritans because by the fourth century their names were beginning to have an odious connotation to them. Nonetheless the Simonians were very much around — this time with the name of “Christian.” And we have the exact testimony of Eusebius himself (325 A.D.) that these people were flocking into the Catholic Church.

Notice what Eusebius says, after stating that Simon Magus in the days of the Apostles received baptism and feigned Christian belief: “And what is more surprising, the same thing IS DONE EVEN TO THIS DAY by those who follow HIS most impure heresy. For they, after the manner of their forefather, SLIPPING INTO THE CHURCH, like a pestilential and leprous disease GREATLY AFFLICT THOSE [a great number of people] into whom they are able to infuse the deadly and terrible poison concealed in themselves” (Eccl. Hist., II, ch. I, sect. 12).

This is amazing testimony, for Eusebius is telling us that these people were now “Christians” and that they were corrupting the entire church as a pestilential disease which hits the whole body. Eusebius later maintains that the chief troublemakers were being expelled from the Catholic Church. But how could they expel all of them? Almost the whole church by this time was affected.

It is not to be supposed that all of the early heretical sects were direct branches of the Simon Magus religion. By the end of the first century there were at least 50 minor sects. The Simon Magus group represented several of these sects, but not all of them. The truth is, the Simonians, whose headquarters were at Rome, finally absorbed ALL these minor sects by the fifth century.

Simonism IS Catholicism

It is also true that even some of the Catholics (in Eusebius’ time) were unwilling to go all the way and accept the SIMON MAGUS doctrines of IMAGES, PICTURES, INCANTATIONS, etc., but within another hundred years, history shows the bars were let down completely.

But in Eusebius’ day, he even balked at their bringing outright images into the churches and worshiping them. Notice what he finally says of these “Christians” of SIMON: “Simon was the author of all heresy. From his time down to the present those who have followed his heresy have FEIGNED the sober philosophy of the Christians, which is celebrated among all on account of its purity of life. But they nevertheless have embraced again the superstitions of idols, which they seemed [ostentatiously] to have renounced; and they fall down before pictures and images of Simon himself and of the above-mentioned Helena who was with him [that is, the images of JUPITER and MINERVA — the Catholics do exactly this today]; and they venture to worship them with incense and sacrifices and libations” (Eccl. Hist. II, 13, 6).

What clear and revealing statements! Eusebius is not talking about what he considers distinct heretics outside the Catholic Church. He is talking about the MAJOR group IN THAT CHURCH which was continually adding more and more on a large scale. He attributes these evils to the “Christians” who followed SIMON MAGUS. They were so active in his day INSIDE THE CHURCH as to give him grave concern. But what happened?

Did the few Catholic leaders of the fourth century who abhorred outright IDOLATRY manage to persuade the masses to give it up and turn away from the SIMONIANS (now called Christians) who were the cause of it all? The answer from history is NO!

The Simonian “Christians” won out. Imagery, idolatry and paganism — became the Universal Church just as planned in the very beginning by SIMON MAGUS — or by the Devil who possessed him.

Can we now understand why God, through Luke, devotes a whole section of Acts to warn us of this man’s origin. He was NEVER a part of the Church of God — NEVER!! But he, and his followers — from clear history — have succeeded in bringing in their UNIVERSAL religion — a pagan blend, called “Christian”!

Magus Counterfeit Marked Throughout New Testament

WHILE the book of Acts gives us the KEY which shows the beginnings of the false religious system under Simon Magus, it does not describe its activities in any great detail. The Acts, however, performs its purpose in exposing who started the whole mess. God leaves it to the epistles, Revelation, and also the Gospel of John to describe the heresy IN DETAIL. We are certainly NOT left in doubt concerning its abominable teachings.

The Chief Books of Expose

There is hardly an epistle that does not mention the religion of Simon Magus. Even the scholars who have studied Church History have clearly seen that almost ALL of the references in the New Testament epistles exposing the errors in the first age of the Church are directed exclusively to Simon Magus, or his immediate followers.

Schaff’s History of the Church says the following about Simon Magus and his doctrines: “Plain traces of this error appear in the later epistles of Paul (to the Colossians, to Timothy, and to Titus), the second epistle of Peter, the first two epistles of John, the epistle of Jude, and the messages of the Apocalypse to the seven Churches.”

“This heresy, in the second century, spread over the whole church, east and west, in the various schools of Gnosticism” (Apostolic Christianity, vol. 2, p. 556).

But to single out the one Apostle who seems to have made the most deliberate and planned attack on the false Christianity of Simon Magus — we must look to John.

Take his Gospel for instance. While he records a history of Christ’s ministry, he has an entirely different approach to the subject than the other three.

John wrote late. Times had changed. John knew that the teachings of Christ were being corrupted by a well-known plot to destroy the TRUTH. To understand John’s approach to his Gospel we must be aware of his endeavour to expose this false system which had arisen and was gaining momentum.

Notice how John constantly hits at the necessity of keeping the commandments of God. Why? Because the false system was preaching LIBERTINE doctrines. Notice also John’s particular geographical settings for his Gospel. He was the one who mentions Christ’s meeting with the woman of Samaria. John is clearly striking home at something in this Samaritan incident that the Church of his time NEEDED to know.

All the other Gospels mention SAMARIA about five times, and even then only casually or in order to give a simple geographical indication. But, when we get to John, writing years after the others, he devotes more space to matters in SAMARIA than is done in all the rest of the New Testament put together. He had a definite and precise REASON for doing so.

John is noted for his plan of “tying up” or “capping off” the Gospel accounts of Christ so as to give the Church a well-rounded Gospel — bringing in the extra points which were necessary for our knowing. Also, John’s epistles are jam-packed with specific information regarding the conspiracy to overthrow the Truth. But yet, none of these works of John mentioned above represent his LAST efforts to warn the Church of that conspiracy which was very much present. John’s last witness to God’s Church before his death was the book of Revelation.

Christ gave His last written message of WARNING of this system through John in Revelation! He tells us specifically the VERY NAMES OF THE SYSTEM TO WATCH in a remarkable and hidden way. Hidden, and yet SO PLAIN once the KEYS are understood. God certainly does NOT leave His Church in the dark.

The Book of Revelation

This book is perhaps the most important towards our study of SIMON MAGUS’ Christianity. Why? Three clear-cut reasons.

  • The book of Acts gives us the PAST history of the Church. It tells us about Simon Magus who started the false system. Without the book of Acts identifying the MAN behind it all, the activities of that false system as recorded in the epistles becomes obscured and in some cases unintelligible. So, the book of Acts is vitally important! !

  • The epistles then come on the scene, describing the false system. With the epistles, the incident of SIMON MAGUS in Acts represents dynamite!! Each section of Scripture is designed to fulfill specific duties. It is when we understand those duties that the Bible really makes sense. (3) Now to the all-important book of Revelation. While Acts describes the beginning of the false system; the epistles nail down its doctrines and describe its activities; the Book of Revelation next comes to the foreground showing the false system’s PROPHETIC HISTORY THROUGH ALL ERAS OF THE CHURCH. We must remember that Revelation intends to show us “things which shall be hereafter.” This is its duty — and it marvelously performs what it was intended to do.

The Seven Churches of Revelation

This section of Revelation gives a big KEY. It describes a brief prophetic history of the Church until the coming of Christ. But also — and this is important — it continually shows the false system with which the TRUE Church would come in contact. Though different names are used to describe the corrupters of the Truth, careful study shows Christ is referring to ONE general false system — perhaps with ramifications, but nevertheless ONE system which will counter the True Church in its entire history.

And in regard to this, Christ tells us in the plainest of words what people it will be, who represent this false system. He tells us it will be SAMARITANS! That is, it will be Samaritans, alias Christians or, plainly, the followers of SIMON MAGUS!

Christ gives us double witness of this identification in a most remarkable way. What He tells us in Acts of SIMON MAGUS being the beginning of the diabolical scheme, He reinforces by telling us in Revelation that Simon’s followers will make up the false system until Christ returns to this earth. Remember that Dr. Schaff, speaking of Simon Magus, says that “plain traces of this error appear in . . . the messages of the Apocalypse to the seven Churches.”

But before seeing these clear references, I must say that the material to follow would have been in the past classified as ABSURD in the extreme, but recent discoveries put a whole new complexion on the matter. Let us see.

The Evidence

Christ identifies the people behind the false system with several names, but these are simply different names of the same system. Notice this. In two distinct AGES of the Church we read of these people with a distinct description. “Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do LIE; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet” (Rev. 3:9).

This is a promise for US today in the Philadelphia Church. We also read of these false people called by this same name afflicting the Christians of the Smyrna church era (Rev. 2:9). The identification is repeated TWICE and both are describing conditions hundreds of years apart. Now the question remains: WHO ARE INTENDED? The answer is so clear. They are Samaritan-Christians, that is, the followers of SIMON MAGUS the Samaritan!

The Proof

Look again at this verse “. . . . which say they are Jews, and are not, but do LIE,”

If we would take that expression out of its Biblical context and, for example, place it into an ordinary secular work written in the first century, that expression could IDENTIFY only one people — and especially if a Jew was doing the writing: THE SAMARITANS.

The Samaritans were the only distinct people in the world in the first and second centuries who said they were Jews, and yet were NOT Jews and they knew it. The Samaritans were LIARS!!

Notice what Josephus said at the end of the first century — just about the time John wrote Revelation. He is speaking of the Samaritan nation: “When the Jews are in adversity they [the Samaritans] deny that they are kin to them, and THEN THEY CONFESS THE TRUTH; but when they perceive that some good fortune hath befallen them, they immediately PRETEND to have communion with them, saying, that they belong to them, and desire their genealogy from the posterity of Joseph, Ephraim, and Manasseh” (Antiquities, XI, 8, 6).

This is plain history! The Samaritans, if to their advantage, called themselves Jews. But they were LIARS! They knew better. Their own records showed they came from Babylon and adjacent areas. This is exactly what the Old Testament says. They were clearly Gentiles.

Josephus continues about these Samaritans: “And when they see the Jews in prosperity, they PRETEND they are changed and allied to them, and call them kinsmen, as though they were derived from Joseph, and had by that means an original alliance with them; but when they see them falling into a low condition, they say that they are no way related to them, and that the Jews have no right to expect any kindness or marks of KINDRED from them, but they declare that they are sojourners, that come from OTHER countries” (Antiquities, IX, 14, 3).

Now this should begin to make sense. At the time of Simon Magus it was clearly an advantage to the Samaritan followers of Simon (and Simon himself) to call themselves JEWS. Why? ALL the prophecies stated that Christ and Christianity would come from the Jews. There was no way around this. So Simon went over to the time-honored custom of his Babylonian ancestors and contemporaries of calling themselves Jews WHEN IT WAS TO THEIR ADVANTAGE.

The Jews, however, never had any real association with these Babylonian imposters. Even when Christ discussed matters with the Samaritan woman at the well, she acknowledged — with amazement because Christ, a Jew, talked with her — that “the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans” (John 4:9). But even though the Samaritans were Gentiles, they consistently lied about their origin when it was profitable to them.

Notice that the woman at the well carried on the fiction of kinship with the Jews when she said, “Art thou greater than OUR father Jacob, which gave us the well?” (John 4:12). They claimed to be a type of Jew, but they were LIARS. This is made plain by Christ Himself when He first sent forth the twelve. He charged them: “Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel” (Matt. 10:5, 6).

Pretty plain, isn’t it? The Apostles were to go to the Jews and Israel — but not to the Gentiles or Samaritans. The Samaritans were plainly Gentiles — NOT Jews!

Review

With theforegoing in mind, let us now go back to the two identifying scriptures in Revelation. The whole matter becomes so plain when the KEY about Simon Magus and the Samaritan-Christian heresy is realized. “Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan [inspired by Satan himself], which say they are Jews, and are NOT, but do LIE; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet” (Rev. 3:9).

The synagogue of Satan are those “Samaritan-Christians” — the followers of Simon Magus.

The phrase “which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie” could easily be set off by brackets, for that is the way John intended it. He meant only one people — the “Christian” Samaritans.

The Other Churches of Revelation Two and Three

When we now look at the other indications about this heretical system, the Simon Magus (and followers) identification becomes exact. Look, for example, at the Ephesus Church era. Notice the group they had to counter. “And thou hast tried them WHICH SAY THEY ARE APOSTLES, and are NOT, and hast found them LIARS” (Rev. 2:2).Now, if we let the Bible be our guide in understanding this matter, it shows only one man who heretically sought an APOSTLESHIP and never repented of his desire to have that office — it was Simon Magus. History shows us that Simon established his own “Christianity” with his own apostles. And also, notice this important point. Compare the statements about the Samaritans — “Which say they are JEWS, and are NOT, but do LIE” (Rev. 3:9) — with our present Scripture under discussion “which say they are APOSTLES, and are NOT, and hast found them LIARS” (Rev. 2:2).The only differences are the words “JEWS” and “APOSTLES.” But — if we get the point at which John is driving — he is saying that these people were calling themselves JEWISH APOSTLES, but that they were all LIARS.The Female Counterpart of SimonIt is well-known that the history of Simon and his religion is connected with the old Babylonian idea of the male and female religious principles. Simon’s Helen (alias Semiramis) figured high in his system.

It would seem odd if the book of Revelation didn’t mention something of the female side of the false system. However, Christ seems to emphasize the male portion of the system in six of the Church eras — the genders are all masculine. But, when He comes to the Thyatira era, Christ switches remarkably to the female part. Yet, there are not different false systems being discussed, but only the various divisions of the ONE system.

It is when we come to Thyatira that we find the system described under the symbol of a woman — the woman Jezebel. This analogy was deliberately chosen for many obvious reasons. Reasons so plain that John’s first century readers could not help but comprehend what he was talking about.

We must remember that John was writing to seven literal Churches all contemporaneous with one another, and he was using language or symbols with which they were acquainted. We, of course, realize the prophetic meaning of the seven churches, but we know that John also had distinct and pertinent messages to the seven congregations which existed in his day. By keeping this obvious fact in mind, the real truth of what John was talking about is made clear to us today.

Prostitute Prophetess

First, we notice that John says this “Jezebel” called herself a “prophetess” (Rev. 2:20). There must have been a particular false prophetess which had caused God’s servants to commit fornication and to eat things sacrificed to idols. By looking on this “Jezebel” as having been contemporaneous with all the heresies of the other Churches — and that these heresies were in reality only ONE false system which originated with Simon Magus — we can then easily see that this “Jezebel” can be equated with the “Female Principle” which Simon introduced into his “Christianity.” None other than Simon’s Helen — the reclaimed temple prostitute from Tyre. Helen WAS a prostitute — what better type of person is there who could so expertly “teach” and “seduce My servants to commit fornication,” literally as well as spiritually?

Simon Magus came in contact with a priestess of Tyre who had been a temple prostitute. The Samaritans worshiped SUCCOTH-BENOTH who was the goddess VENUS. Her devotees continually prostituted themselves. It was their religious duty to do so.

This woman was overawed by Simon’s demonic power and was persuaded to follow him — to live with him — to become the female principle, the necessary counterpart to his claim as being a type of male deity. Relative to this, the Encyclopaedia Britannica, vol. 25, p. 126, quoting from Justin states: “And almost all the Samaritans and a few among the other nations, acknowledge and adore him as the first god. And one Helen, who went about with him at the time, who before had had her stand in a brothel, they say was the First Thought that was brought into being by him.”

This is interesting because Justin was himself a Samaritan — born and reared in the country. He certainly knew his people’s native traditions and teachings. What he says agrees exactly with the New Testament revelation of how the Samaritans regarded Simon. They actually called him the “great power of God” (Acts 8:10). It is because of this that they believed him to have creative powers. He himself said he created Helen, his female companion whom he later elevated to a goddess.

“Irenaenus, Theodoret, and Epiphanius agree in identifying Simon with the Supreme God and Helena with ennoia, the first conception of his mind and his agent in creation” (Dict. of Religion of Ethics, vol. 11, p. 517). What blasphemy!! But this is what he taught everywhere he went — and under the guise of Christianity.

Typically Pagan

There always had to be the Man and Woman divinities in paganism. Or, to make it plain, Nimrod and Semiramis. Now notice what the Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics says about this teaching of Simon which he took to Rome and they accepted: “The original of Simon’s Helena is the moon-goddess of Syria and Babylonia.

In the Clementine Recognitions Helena is always translated ‘Luna.’ The theory that Simon was accustomed to borrow from paganism IS CORROBORATED by the assertion of the Fathers that he and Helena were worshipped by their sect with the attributes of ZEUS and ATHENE and received the cult-title ‘Lord’ and ‘Lady’ (i.e. our Lord and our Lady)” (ibid. p. 518).

As stated before, it was Simon’s plan to bring about a UNIVERSAL religion under the powerful name of Christianity. Remember that Simon NEVER gave up the Christian name.

His followers were called Christians. In amalgamating the pagan Babylonian religious beliefs with Christianity, he placed himself at the head — the personification of the chief pagan gods of old, and Helena as his companion in creation, the personification of the female deities. The name Helena for his consort fit his plan exceptionally well. “There existed a wide-spread cult of the moon goddess in Syria and Egypt under the name Helene; she was identified with Aphrodite, Atargatis, and the Egyptian Isis, who was after represented with Horns to betoken her relation to the moon. One feature of the myth of Helen can be traced to the very ancient connection of the religion of Osiris with Syria. According to legend, Isis spent ten years at a brothel in Tyre during the course of her wanderings in search of the scattered limbs of her husband. The imprisonment of Helen (Simon’s Helen) is then only a variant of the many myths relating the degradation of the Queen of Heaven” (ibid.).

How important these observations are, for Osiris was clearly Nimrod and Isis was Semiramis. Thus, Simon Magus said that he had been the power that motivated Nimrod and that Helen was Semiramis — the Queen of Heaven. Now let us carefully note that Simon brought his “Female Principle” from the City of TYRE. And who was the original Jezebel — the woman who seduced Israel to worship BAAL? She was the daughter of the king of the Sidonians whose capital city was TYRE. (I Kings 16:31). The original Jezebel was also from TYRE.

And not only that, Helen claimed herself to be the creation of Simon — that it was Simon who brought her into existence (Ency. Britannica, vol. 25, p. 126). She was, in a sense, the daughter of Simon. But, the original Jezebel WAS THE LITERAL DAUGHTER OF THE KING OF TYRE (I Kings 16:31).

The Gospel of John

With all of these things in mind, we can see why John hits hard at the Samaritans in his Gospel, as well as the book of Revelation. He was the only Gospel writer who mentions the incident of the Samaritan woman at the well. He saw it absolutely necessary by his time, for doing so.

Actually, the whole incident at the well is of relative unimportance if it was simply put there to show us that Christ could perceive that the woman had had five husbands. But there was MUCH more to it than that. If we will carefully notice what the conversation between this Samaritan woman and Christ was, we will see that John is giving the DEATH BLOW to the claims of the “Christian” — Samaritans of his day — the anti-Christ system. Since these false Christians DID NOMINALLY REGARD Christ as the (or perhaps better) a founder of the “Christian Church,” John tells them what Jesus informed the Samaritan woman:

“Ye worship ye know not what” (John 4:22). Christ meant by those words that the Samaritans were NOT worshiping the True God at all. They were worshiping something foreign to the God of the Bible. It was the Devil.

We KNOW WHO (we become ONE with the One whom) we worship: FOR SALVATION IS OF THE JEWS” (v. 22). We can see why John saw the necessity of explaining what Christ really said on this matter. Christ said the JEWS would give forth salvation, NOT the Samaritans — and He was even talking to a Samaritan at the time.

John put this here primarily to show that Simon Magus, the Samaritans and his followers, were in COMPLETE error in their grandiose claims. And to further emphasize the true Messiahship of Christ — who was a Jew — John records that one whole city even of the Samaritans recognized Jesus as the Christ (vs. 39-42). He was showing that some of the people in Simon’s own home-ground knew that Jesus Christ and the Jews were responsible for salvation.

John tells us that the woman at the well had FIVE husbands. This is to be taken literally, but isn’t it remarkable that the original Babylonian tribes which became the Samaritans were FIVE in number — and they each brought their false deities with them. Thus, according to the figurative language of the Old Testament, these Samaritans — who claimed to be worshippers of YHVH — were in reality, like the woman at the well, committing adultery with FIVE spiritual “husbands.”

Evidence of Sabbath Suppression

(updated 02/10/12; from a post that is more than ten years old)

First let me say that this will not be an exhaustive study of the Sabbath Suppression in the KJV N.T. It is only a sampling of such that serves to encourage you to do your own indepth study into words and their meanings, that you might rightly divide the word of truth.

There are numerous incidences of the use of four specific English words in the English translations of the New Covenant / Testament that are of a mysterious origin and often mistranslated from the Greek texts. The four words we are looking for are ‘godly’, when translated from ‘eusebos‘; ‘ungodly’,  from ‘asebos‘; ‘godliness’,  from ‘eusebia‘; and ‘ungodliness’, from ‘asebeia‘.

The concept of Sabbath keeping was not a part of the Greek culture. There was never a Greek concept of Sabbath observance. Greeks transliterated the Hebrew word ‘Sabbath’ as ‘sabbaton‘ or any of several other variant spellings, each with their own grammatical distinctions. The Hebrew word /concept was rendered into a Greek near sound-alike word, not a translation into an existing Greek word: No such word ever existed in Greek.

In 1st Timothy 1:4 we see that the word ‘godly’ comes from the Greek word ‘theos‘ or should I say, whenever you see the Greek word ‘theos‘ it means ‘god‘, ‘godly’ etc. There are also many other instances throughout scriptures where the English word ‘godly’ is tranaslated from [ Strongs’ # 2153] ‘eusebos’ {yoo-seb-oce’}, but the Greeks had no concept of Sabbath keeping. This word has been loosely translated into English to mean ‘pious’ or ‘godly’. However, look at the root word in ‘eusebos‘. It has been highlighted for easy identification of the root. ‘Seb or ‘Sab‘ is the root of the word communicating the concept of Sabbath. ‘Theos‘ means ‘god‘; ‘Seb‘ means ‘Sabbath’. You won’t find this well documented however, as it has literally been stricken from virtually all the commonly available bible reference books. It has been cleverly mistranslated and disguised for many centuries to hide the truth about the significance and importance of Sabbath-keeping, and the consequences of Sabbath-breaking, in the New Covenant Scriptures.

Let’s go through the whole book of 1st Timothy and see if this message has been hidden from truth-seekers in the King James Version. [Note: This writer believes that the KJV with its many problems, is still the best English version available, but by no means is it perfect, nor is it without demonstrable error.] I’m sure there will be many scoffers, but truth-seekers will see the light of the Sabbath truth vividly portrayed throughout the whole context of this book. In brackets, I will put the Greek word so we can see if it is derived from ‘theos‘ or from the root word ‘seb‘. If the word come from ‘theos‘ I will leave it without further explanation. If it is derived from the root ‘seb‘ I will restore the Sabbath concept to the original intent of the Apostle Paul.

I Timothy, chapter 1 [King James Version]: 1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, [which is] our hope; 2 Unto Timothy, [my] own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, [and] peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. 3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, 4 neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly [theos] edifying which is in faith: [so do]. 5 Now the end of the commandment (4th; Shabbat) is charity out of a pure heart, and [of] a good conscience, and [of] faith unfeigned: 6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; 7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. 8 But we know that the law [is] good, if a man use it lawfully; 9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly [Sabbath breakers – asebes] and for sinners, for unholy and profane, or murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; 11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. 12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; 13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did [it] ignorantly in unbelief. 14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 15 This [is] a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. 16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. 17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, [be] honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. 18 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; 19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: 20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

Now we have just seen Paul instruct Timothy concerning the Commandments of Yahweh on Sabbath-breaking, the violation of the 4th Commandment; euthenasia of fathers and mothers the diametric opposite of the 5th Commandment; manslaying, the violation of the 6th Commandment; adulterery, the violation of the 7th Commandment; kidnapping (manstealing), the violation of the 8th Commandment; perjury, the bearing of false testimony against the life of an innocent party which is the violation of the 9th Commandment; and anything else that would be contrary to sound doctrine, which includes covetousness, the violation of the 10th Commandment.

Isn’t the order interesting? The root word ‘seb‘ was found where one might expect to find mention of the violation of the 4th commandment (verse 9). That is not to say that ‘ungodly’ is not an appropriately related idea to the concept of violation of the Sabbath, but that in context, ‘Sabbath-breaking’ is the intended meaning originally given by Paul and suppressed in the KJV, and all other subsequent English-version translations! Let’s continue with…

1 Timothy, chapter 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and [for] all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness [Sabbath keeping – eusebeia] and honesty. 3 For this [is] good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 5 For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. 7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, [and] lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. 8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. 9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 10 But (which becometh women professing godliness [theosebeiagodly Sabbath keeping] ) with good works. 11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

Here in chapter 2, we came across a very interesting Greek word, ‘theosebeia‘. We have already seen that ‘theo‘ or ‘theos‘ means ‘godly’ or ‘god‘, but this word would be translated as ‘god-godly’ if one were consistent with the translator’s practice of rendering both these roots with the exact same meaning. Verse 10 says “But which becometh women professing ‘god-god‘ or ‘god-godly’ with good works.” It doesn’t make sense that way, does it? And the translators of this verse again performed their deft, sleight of hand with the false pen of the scribe working falsehood (see Jeremiah 8:8). Beware of the (modern) Scribes! This verse should have read ‘But which becometh women professing (true) Sabbath keeping to Elohim’ [and] with good works.”

A Jewish woman who is modest, sober, not puffed up or on display and knowing her place in Yahweh’s plan would be doing the good works of keeping all Yahweh’s Commandments, especially and emphatically, keeping the Sabbath.

1 Timothy, chapter 3:1 This [is] a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; 4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; 5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the called out of God?) 6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. 8 Likewise [must] the deacons [be] grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; 9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. 10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being [found] blameless. 11 Even so [must their] wives [be] grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. 12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. 13 For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great oldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. 14 These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly: 15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness [Sabbath keeping – eusebia]: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Very interesting! ‘The mystery of godliness’  is directly related to Sabbath keeping; but you would never know it from reading the KJV! How are these two related? One must stop doing one’s own thing, one’s own works to enter into the rest of the spirit. One must also stop working on the eve before Sabbath, when the night comes in which no man can work.

Just as there are seven days in the week, and the Sabbath is the seventh day, even so there have been six thousand years since the fall of Adam. Now we are preparing for the second coming of Yeshua who will set up his kingdom on the earth for another thousand years, the Sabbath millenium. The mystery of Sabbath keeping therefore, is to experience kingdom life in this age through the cessation of doing one’s own works and entering into life in Messiah (Christ; meaning ‘the anointing’; which is the express person of Yeshua, manifested in the life of a true believing individual) now.

This understanding has been nearly eradicated in the translating of the original New Covenant scriptures into the English language. The latter day ‘church‘ has changed Yahweh‘s commandment to keep Sabbath, setting another day, ‘sun‘day, apart for religious purposes.

Through blindly following the Babylonian tradition of sun worship, the modern ‘church‘ is doing their own thing and not resting in the completed work of Yeshua, the true Jewish Messiah of the scriptures, who obeyed His Father by letting his own dead flesh rest in the grave on the weekly Sabbath, according to the commandment; see Luke 23:56. Contrary to the false tradition of a ‘Sun‘-day resurrection that they base their error upon, the scriptures teach that the true gospel proclaims that Yeshua rose from the dead on The Third Day of the week, 1st Cor. 15: 3-4; not on a ‘Sun‘- day!

The mystery of Sabbath keeping show us that the commandment to cease and to desist from doing one’s own work on the Sabbath, one day each week, the day HE chooses, not the day of our choosing, contains the secret for access into life in the kingdom age: STOP DOING YOUR OWN WORKS BY TRUSTING IN THE COMPLETED WORK OF YESHUA! Yahweh‘s Fourth Commandment is a cease and desist order, not a request or a suggestion.

I Timothy, chapter 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, [and commanding] to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God [is] good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. 6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. 7 But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself [rather] unto godliness [Sabbath Keeping – eusebia] 8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness [Sabbath Keeping – eusebia] is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. 9 This [is] a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. 10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. 11 These things command and teach. 12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. 15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. 16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

In verses 7 and 8, you will see that Sabbath- keeping is ‘godliness’ as we understand the word in English, however we were never allowed, nor were we ever taught to see the two ideas put together as they were originally intended. Understand the truth that obeying the Sabbath of Yahweh “is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.” Verse11, “These things command and teach.” A-mein.

I Timothy, chapter 5:1 Rebuke not an elder, but intreat [him] as a father; [and] the younger men as brethren; 2 The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity. 3 Honour widows that are widows indeed. 4 But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety [keep Sabbath – eusebeo] at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God. 5 Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day. 6 But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth. 7 And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless. 8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. 9 Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man, 10 Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints’ feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work. 11 But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry; 12 Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith. 13 And withal they learn [to be] idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not. 14 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. 15 For some are already turned aside after Satan. 16 If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed. 17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. 18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer [is] worthy of his reward. 19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses. 20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 21 I charge [thee] before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality. 22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure. 23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities. 24 Some men’s sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some [men] they follow after. 25 Likewise also the good works [of some] are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.

In chapter 5, verse 4, the word ‘eusebos‘ has been translated ‘piety‘ resulting in the denial of the teaching that Sabbath keeping should first be learned at home. This is the most egregious offense to the Jewish women who were among the first believers in Yeshua. Sabbath keeping in the home, for Jewish women, is an institution enduring for more than three thousand years and by a stroke of the translator’s pens, the Jewish roots and practices of the first recipients of the original, TRUE gospel, have been severed from the English versions of the New Covenant scriptures for the last five hundred years! Not only has this deliberate abuse of privilege prevented many Jews from giving any crediblity to Christianity at large, calling it a false religion because of ‘christianSabbath rejection, and rightly so, but also from coming to a saving knowledge of the true Messiah. It has further enslaved many a christian to a form of religion that did not profit them at all through observing the empty tradition of their fathers; nor did ‘the church‘ accomplish any deliverance in the earth.

1 Timothy, chapter 6:1 Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and [his] doctrine be not blasphemed. 2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise [them], because they are brethren; but rather do [them] service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort. 3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, [even] the words of our Lord Jesus Christ [Yeshua ha Mashiach], and to the doctrine which is according to godliness [Sabbath-keeping – eusebia]; 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness [Sabbath-keeping – eusebia]: from such withdraw thyself. 6 But godliness [Sabbath-keeping – eusebia] with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this] world, [and it is] certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and [into] many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness [Sabbath-keeping – eusebia], faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and [before] Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; 14 That thou keep [this] commandment (4th; Shabbat) without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: 15 Which in his times he shall shew, [who is] the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom [be] honour and power everlasting. Amein. 17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; 19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. 20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane [and] vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: 21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace [be] with thee. Amein.

The whole book of 1st Timothy has been examined here, and we see that the Hebrew understanding of the Greek words translated into English as ‘godly’ or ‘godliness’, etc., never excludes the idea of Sabbath-keeping, for it is an integral element of seeking righteousness, as much as faith, love, patience, meekness, etc.

Righteousness is impossible without the concept of keeping all Yahweh‘s commandments; especially including Sabbath-keeping, for if we break one commandment, we are guilty of breaking them all (James 2:10). First Timothy was written to a Sabbath-keeper by a Sabbath-keeper for potential Sabbath-keepers, so all men everywhere might know that Sabbath keeping, or Sabbath breaking for that matter, has eternal consequences: those who do their own works will have their works burnt up as wood, hay and stubble. But those who reject the Sabbath after being made aware of the truth, will have their part in the Lake of Fire alongside all of those who love and make lies and those who suppress the truth, for Yahweh has shown it to them.

The next time you run across the words, ‘godly’, ‘ungodly’, ‘godliness’ or ‘ungodliness’, you need to get out your Greek Interlinear and your Strong’s concordance and look up the verses for yourself to find out if the Greek root theos‘ or the Hebrew root ‘seb‘ is being translated. This is my challenge to you as you seek truth and understanding from the Ruach ha Qodesh [the Spirit that is set-apart, or the Holy Spirit].

In closing, there is a verse in Matthew worth examining closer.

Matthew 27:46 “And about the ninth hour Yeshua cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is to say,”My El, my El, why hast thou forsaken me?”

Was our Messiah when on the crucifixion stake, uttering to His Father, “My El, My El, how I keep your Sabbath”? Has there been a world wide conspiracy by Satan to keep the knowledge of the importance of the Sabbath from Yahweh‘s people through deception, misdefinition and mistranslations? I know this is not the way it is preached or taught in the churches and synagogues, but look at the root ‘seb‘, stemming from the Hebrew word for ‘Sabbath’. Not only was Messiah ‘not forsaken’  as we have been taught, but He was teaching us in His final, flesh and blood lesson, by quoting the first phrase from the first verse of Psalm 22 and substituting the Aramaic word sabacthani’ in place, that, whereas King David was in personal agony over ‘feeling forsaken’ [Hebrew word ‘azab’, or ‘azavthani’], Yeshua had faith in obeying His Father’s command, even in death.

To this end please consider the following passage of scripture:

Acts 2:29-36, (Peter speaking) “Men and brethren, let me freely speak to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is here with us to this day. Therefore, being a prophet and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne. He, seeing this before, spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his (Messiah‘s) soul was not left in hell, neither did his flesh see corruption. This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God, exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. For David is not ascended into the heavens, but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, “Sit thou on my right hand until I make thy foes thy footstool.” Therefore, let all the House of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, both Lord and Christ.

According to Hebrew customs, when the first verse of a chapter of the Old Testament is memorized, it becomes the ‘hook’  in memorization to knowing and recalling the contents of the rest of the Chapter so identified. Here, Messiah Yeshua is telling those gathered around Him to REMEMBER what the Scriptures said in Psalm 22 because it was happening just as it had been foretold. Verses 13-18 describe the agony of the Messiah, the piercing of His hands and feet, and the dividing and casting lots for His garment. Our Messiah wanted them to recognize that He was the Messiah, and prophecy was being fulfilled before their very eyes; for their sakes. Isn’t it interesting also, that the Fourth Commandment requires us to REMEMBER the Sabbath? It is the only one of the Ten Commandments specifically mentioned that we were to REMEMBER. Is it because our heavenly Father, Yahweh, knew His people would forget, or be deceived away from keeping His Sabbaths? We believe Yeshua haMashiach was giving a message to us in this deceived generation that He kept His Father’s Sabbaths (Feast Days and weekly Sabbaths) from His place of persecution, even to the point of death ……. and beyond!

BeEchad LeChodesh

(updated 02/10/12)

A curious thing is seen in the translation of certain timekeeping expressions, from Hebrew to English. Typically we think of ‘days of the month’ as calendar dates. In Hebrew however they are counted from the ‘new moon’ (chodesh). When the first visible crescent moon of each month is seen in the west, following sunset, and at times before stars are seen, the sighting heralds the day that follows the chodesh, the first day of the month.

To the nomadic herdsmen of ancient times, the sight of the crescent moon reminded them of the horns on their cattle. Because the word rosh in Hebrew means first, chief, or head, they referred to the crescent as the ‘head of renewal’ (rosh chodesh).

Of interest here it must be stated that the Gold Calf incident did not occur on the seventeenth day of the fourth month, as Jewish tradition claims. Moses diary as written in Exodus, shows that this occurred during the renewal between the fourth and fifth months of the year. Moses came off Mt. Sinai following forty days that began on the 22nd day of the third month. The forty day count (inclusive) shows he arrived back at camp following the beginning of the fifth month.

The last visible crescent moon of each month was seen in the east just before dawn on the twenty seventh day from the last sighting. Then the moon retired out of sight for either two and a half, or three and a half days, when it would return once more in the west following sunset, when it was once more sighted by alert watchmen.

The Hebrew word that means ‘renewal’ is chodesh. It is similar to the word used in the phrase Brit Chadashah, which gets translated as ‘New Covenant” and by some as, ‘Renewed Covenant’. The latter term refers to the numerous times in the long history of the b’nei Israel that successive generations renewed the original covenant made with their fathers at Mt. Sinai.

The chet-dalet, two-letter root seen in the word cheder is also related to the word chodesh (though some deny it).  A cheder is a room where women would go and remain while their flow was not staunched. It was a place of renewal for them in a similar manner to the moon that disappears each month at the end of its cycle, when it would disappear until it appeared ‘renewed’ once again.

Hebrew has words to express both Cardinal Numbers (One, Two, Three, etc.) and Ordinal Numbers (first, second, third, etc.).

The phrase ‘first day of the month’ appears in several passages in the KJV O.T. In each example, it is always given in Hebrew as בְּאֶחָד לַחֹדֶשׁ (b’echad l’chodesh; we have provided a collated list below for the readers’ convenience). The Hebrew expression is literally translated: ‘In one from renewal’.

The difference between the two phrases is that ‘first day of the month’ does not tell one when to begin to count a month; whereas the phrase ‘one from renewal’ specifically tells one how to count. The chodesh is always the day the new moon is sighted, signifying the renewal itself had concluded the day before.

Some make this concept harder to understand than it merits. The count of days from the previous first visible crescent moon sighting had always been known. As there are never less than 29 days from the previous sighting, following the 29th day of the count a search for the crescent began.

If none was sighted and reported by FAITHFUL witnesses, the search continued the next day, at even, which is the twilight that follows sunset. Monthly cycles are never more than 30 days, hence if there was no sighting at the conclusion of the 30th day, it was KNOWN that the coming day was the first of the new month. The moon would be sighted the following night, again, following sunset but before three stars. Monthly cycles are either 29 or 30 days; never less, never more.

The days when the moon is not seen are solar (only) in nature as no moon is seen therein. When one uses the term ‘lunar days’ it is implicit that the moon has no light of its own, and this is just a simple way to refer to days counted for moedim, the set-times of YHVH which includes His Sabbaths and feasts.

In the verses below, the phrase “on the first day of the month” has been replaced with the literal rendering ‘in one from renewal’. Please carefully read and compare the translation of these verses with your best translation. The Hebrew phrase for each time-keeping expression has been provided to make comparison and contrast easier for the reader who can read Hebrew.

Exodus 40:2 In day-of the renewal, the first; in one from renewal shall you set up the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation. בְּיוֹם-הַחֹדֶשׁ הָרִאשׁוֹן, בְּאֶחָד לַחֹדֶשׁ

Exodus 40:17 And it came to pass in renewal the first, in the second year, in one from renewal, that the tabernacle was reared up. וַיְהִי בַּחֹדֶשׁ הָרִאשׁוֹן, בַּשָּׁנָה הַשֵּׁנִית–בְּאֶחָד לַחֹדֶשׁ.

Leviticus 23:24 Speak unto the b’nei  Israel, saying, “In renewal the seventh, in one from renewal, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.” בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִי בְּאֶחָד לַחֹדֶשׁ

Deuteronomy 1:3 And so in the fortieth year, in renewal eleven, in one from renewal, that Moshe spake unto the b’nei Israel, according unto all that YHVH had given him in commandment unto them; בְּעַשְׁתֵּי-עָשָׂר חֹדֶשׁ בְּאֶחָד לַחֹדֶשׁ

2 Chronicles 29:17 Now on one from renewal the first they began to sanctify; and in day eight from the renewal they came to the porch of YHVH; so they sanctified the house of YHVH within eight days; and in day sixteen from renewal the first; they made an end. בְּאֶחָד לַחֹדֶשׁ הָרִאשׁוֹן, לְקַדֵּשׁ וּבְיוֹם שְׁמוֹנָה לַחֹדֶשׁ

Ezekiel 29:17 And so in the seven and twentieth year, in one from renewal, the word of YHVH came unto me, saying, בְּאֶחָד לַחֹדֶשׁ

Ezekiel 31:1 And so in the eleventh year, in the third, in one from renewal, the word of YHVH came unto me, saying, בְּאַחַת עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה בַּשְּׁלִישִׁי, בְּאֶחָד לַחֹדֶשׁ

Ezekiel 32:1 And so in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, in one from renewal; the word of YHVH came unto me, saying בִּשְׁתֵּי עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה, בִּשְׁנֵי-עָשָׂר חֹדֶשׁ בְּאֶחָד לַחֹדֶשׁ

Haggai 1:1 In the second year of Darius the king, in renewal the sixth, in day one from the renewal, came the word of YHVH by Haggai the prophet unto Zerub-Babel ben Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Yehoshua ben Yehozedek haCohen haGadol, saying,

Colloquially, it does not make a difference that these verses read “on the first day of the month”, which is the familiar rendering, or if they read “in day one from the renewal”, which is a TECHNICAL wording. What is important is how the phrase is to be understood. Earlier we saw the word chodesh was translated as ‘new moon’. The Hebrew word for moon is yerach and sometimes it appears in the Scriptures in the form yareach, which frequently is translated as ‘month’.

Clearly the relationship between the ‘moon’ and a ‘month’ is seen in these two forms of the same root. However, the word chodesh does not contain a direct connection to that root. This word chodesh gets translated as both ‘new moon’ and ‘month’ by the KJV translators and editors; but its root means to ‘renew’ or be ‘new’.  One big problem has resulted from this unnecessary duplicity of translation: renewals, by experience, are either one (day 29), or two days (29 and 30); a thirtieth day is needed every other month, or so.

One asks the question, “How does scripture differentiate between renewal days, and days of the month?”

We focus our attention on the passage that religious Jews read each ‘renewal’ (chodesh) to see how these things are worded in detail. Here is where wording makes a huge difference in how one understands a text. We have already seen in each and every verse above, the phrasing that reads b’Echad leChodesh (in one from renewal).

In the portion considered most important for Jews to understand about ‘new moons’ (renewals; 1 Sam. 20) we do not find the phrase b’Echad leChodesh in Hebrew. Rather, we see the phrases haChodesh haSheni and baYom-haChodesh haSheni. Though some may try to make these mean the first and second days of a month, they are not the same pattern as all other verses that get translated ‘first day of the month’ and ‘second day of the month’.

1 Samuel 20:27 And it came to pass on the morrow, the second of the renewal, (ִמָּחֳרַת הַחֹדֶשׁ הַשֵּׁנִי) that David’s place was empty: and Shaul said unto Yehonathan his son, “Why has the son of Yishai not come to bread, neither yesterday, nor today?”

1 Samuel 20:34 So Yehonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat in day-of the renewal, the second (בְּיוֹם-הַחֹדֶשׁ הַשֵּׁנִי) for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame.

The days of renewal that follow the four weeks of each month (days 1 – 28), were in ancient Israelite times considered to be days of meeting and waiting for the renewal to be over, and the new month to begin. We see a picture of a renewal in Exodus 18, where Moshe sits to judge the people all day long, in the third renewal of the year the b’nei Israel came out of Egypt (1472 B.C.).

Exodus 18:13 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moshe sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moshe from the morning unto the evening. 14 And when Moshe‘s father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, “What is this thing that you do to the people? Why do you yourself sit alone and all the people stand before you from morning unto even?”

There is yet another curious, asymmetric construction that has been rendered as ‘the second day, of the second month’.  We acknowledge it without further comment.

2 Chronicles 3:2 And he began to build in renewal the second, in second day, in the fourth year of his reign.  בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשֵּׁנִי, בַּשֵּׁנִי, בִּשְׁנַת אַרְבַּע baChodesh haSheni baSheni

Twice in the Gospels do we see a reference to the Hebrew word yomayim that has been translated as ‘two days’ without regard to the possibility of it meaning more than two days, although the citation from John 11 makes that abundantly clear. In the first citation, in John 4, the timing appears to be either at the Feast of Weeks (chag haShavuot), or at the renewal (chodesh) that followed the third month of the year, as the feast of ingathering (chag haSukkot) always follows it, four months later.

John 4:31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” 32 But he said unto them, “I have food to eat of which ye know not.”  33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, “Has any man brought him anything to eat?”  34 Yeshua said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent I Am, and to finish His work. 35 Do ye not say: There are yet four months, and then comes harvest? Behold, I Am says unto you: Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. 36 And he that reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit unto life l’olam: that both he that sows and he that reaps, may rejoice together.  37 And herein is that saying true, one sows, and another reaps. 38 I Am sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labor: other men labored, and ye are entered into their labors.” 39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, “He told me all that ever I did.” 40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode (sabbathed) there two days (yomayim). 41 And many more believed because of his own word; 42 and said unto the woman, “Now do we believe, not because of your saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Messiah, the deliverer of the world.” 43 Now after two days (yomayim) he departed thence, and went into Galilee; 44 for Yeshua himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.

John 11:1 Now a certain man was sick, Eliezar of Bethaniah, the village of Miryam and her sister Martha. 2 It was that Miryam which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Eliezar was sick. 3 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, “Adoni, behold, he whom you love is sick.” 4 When Yeshua heard that, he said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of Elohim, that the son of Elohim might be glorified thereby.” 5 Now Yeshua loved Martha, and her sister, and Eliezar. 6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was. 7 Then after that he said to his disciples, “Let us go into Judaea again.” 8 His disciples say unto him, “Rabbi, the Jews of late sought to stone you; and you would go there again?” 9 Yeshua answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. 10 And if a man walk in the night, he stumbles, because there is no light in him.” 11 These things said he: and after that he said unto them, “Our friend Eliezar sleeps; but I Am goes that I Am may awake him out of sleep.” 12 Then said his disciples, “Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.” 13 Howbeit Yeshua spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. 14 Then said Yeshua unto them plainly, “Eliezar is dead. 15 And I Am is glad for your sakes That I Am was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.” 16 Then Thomas, which is called Didymus, said unto his fellow-disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.” 17 Then when Yeshua came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.

It is rather clear to those who study these things, that the time of Lazarus’ death was at the conclusion of one year and the beginning of the next. These four days were the last Shabbat of the year (day 28), followed by the chodesh (days 29 and 30; the renewal), and the fourth was the first day of the new year, when they went to Bethany.

Exodus 16:28 And YHVH said unto Moshe, “How long do ye refuse to keep My commandments and My laws?  29 See, for that YHVH has given you the sabbath, therefore He gives you on the sixth day the bread of two days (lechem yomayim); abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. 30 So the people rested on the seventh day.”

The two other usages of the words ‘two days’ in the Gospels show that they refer to the twelfth and thirteenth days of the first month, which annually came immediately before Passover (Aviv 14) and the first day (Aviv 15) of the feast of Unleavened Bread.

In context, this particular use of the words ‘two days’ cannot come from the Hebrew word yomayim, which was always on Aviv 14 and Aviv 15, to be consistent with the context in the passages in which they are found.

The use of the Hebrew word yomayim is only for the weekly sixth days (6, 13, and 20) and Sabbaths in the middle of the month (days 7, 14, and 21), and also for renewals (days 29, and 30 as needed). If a Hebrew original of Matthew and Mark were found, it must have the words for ‘two’ and ‘days’ (sh’taim or sheni, along with a plural of yom; yamim) at this juncture; if not, such would be a fraud.

Matthew 26:2 “Ye know that after two days is the feast of the Passover, and the son of man is betrayed to be crucified.”

Mark 14:1 After two days was the Passover and the feast of Unleavened Bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.

The Restoration of YHVH’s Sabbath

(last updated 2/09/12)

2 Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves: being covetous, boasters, they are also proud, blasphemers, who are disobedient to parents; they are unthankful, unholy, 3 who are devoid of natural affection; trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, and despisers of those that are good; 4 who are betrayers, heady, highminded, lovers of indulgent pleasures more than being lovers of ‘God’ they profess to be; 5 who have a form of eusebeias (Sabbath observance), but who deny the power of it: from such turn away.

1 Timothy 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Yeshua Messiah, and to the doctrine that is according to ‘godliness’ eusebeias (Sabbath observance); 4 he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof comes envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the Truth, who suppose that material gain is ‘godliness’: from such withdraw yourself; 6 but ‘godliness’ with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

Romans 1:25 Who transmuted the truth of Elohim into a lie; and worshipped (εσεβασθησαν esebasthesan; ‘who kept sabbath unto’), and served, the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed l’olam. Amein.

Selfishness is self-love; the love for self, narcissism. Self-focus is the main preoccupation of those obsessed with this personality disorder. In Romans chapters one and two, we see in the Greek, the character of an alchemist, which is the same as a magician and a sorceror, contrasted with the character of YHVH Himself, who is a patient farmer.

Simon the sorceror wanted quick power, quick fame, quick wealth and his chosen vehicle to get him these things was religion. The drive to get rich quick is in every anti-messiah person who hates YHVH’s Sabbath. They change His intent for the day, which is to rest in Him, and turn it something else, “who suppose GAIN is sabbath-observance”, a day to enrich themselves at the expense of others.

Because men love to do their own pleasure, their own will, they are given to forsake His commandments, especially His Sabbath. YHVH’s Sabbath represents the entirety of His will. Those who hate His Sabbath really hate Him, His ways, and everything else about Him. They love themselves; the creature turns from worshipping (keeping Sabbath to) the Creator, to worship himself, the creature. This is the Mystery of Iniquity.

1 Timothy 3:16 And apart from controversy, great is the mystery of ‘godliness’  (eusebeias); Elohim was manifest inside of the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

The contrast of the Mystery of Iniquity is the Mystery of Sabbath-keeping. Sabbath-keeping does not mean: make a formula for when to observe Sabbath and thereby will you be righteous in the eyes of God. This is obvious from the cited passages, there are those who suppose sabbath-observance is for the purpose of material gain, and they are found in churches as equally as in synagogues. Those who “change the truth of Sabbath for a lie” do not honor the intent of the Creator, but of the creature. Any who change, alter, or otherwise abrogate the intent of the Creator, do not honor His Sabbath (a rest) any more than Simon Magus, the original, near-sighted, mr. Magoo, who was in reality a sorceror.

YHVH Elohim Israel took away the Sabbaths and appointed times away from the children of Israel (Hosea 2:11). He did so because of their apostacies and hypocracies; He is no fool.

Hosea 2:11 I Am will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast days, her renewals, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.

We notice that He does not say “His” in the verse above. This indicates a change, like one changing spouses, the giving and taking in marriage that results in serial divorce and remarriage. When men resort to their own desires, somehow, it is always reflected in them doing their own will, exercising their own desires that always seek to bring them pleasure.

In the last days YHVH promises to restore the Sabbath that was native to the original fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This has been suppressed in the English translations of both Jews and Christians, but it is now being revealed to those who love Truth.

Romans 11:25 For I would, brethren, that ye should NOT be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in; 26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written: There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness (asebeias Sabbath-rejection) from Ya’aqov: 27 For this is My covenant unto them, when I Am shall take away their Sabbath sins.

Isaiah 59:19 So shall they fear the Name YHVH from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of YHVH shall lift up an ensign against him. 20 And the Redeemer shall come to Sion, and unto THOSE WHO TURN from transgression in Ya’aqov,” says YHVH. 21 “As for I Am, this is My covenant with them,” says YHVH; “My spirit that is upon you, and My words That I Am has put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, nor out of the mouth of your seed, nor out of the mouth of your seed’s seed,” says YHVH, “from henceforth and l’olam.”

A little about language here. The pattern of redemption in Scripture involves seeing things in types and patterns. These types are repeated in Scripture. For example; the number 430 is seen in Exodus 12:40-41 where we are told it was exactly 430 years from the time the Covenant was made with Abram (Gen. 15) until the day of the Exodus (Ex. 15). Fifteen is the number of Redemption. The first place they went were Sukkoth and Ra’amses. This latter word has a gematria of 430. Before that, we see in Genesis, that the Hebrew phrase tohu vabohu that is translated in KJV as ‘without form and void’. It also has a gematria of 430, as also does the word for a nominative coin, sheqel. Can the reader here detect that when these concepts are discussed in Scripture, the subject of Redemption is being discussed?

Romans 11:26 in the KJV, quoting from the Septuagint in Isaiah 59:20, has the phrase, “turn away ungodliness” in English, but where we see the word ‘ungodliness’, in Greek it says ασεβειας (asebeias) which contains the sebroot that indicates sabbath. Paul, a Jew, wrote this epistle and knew what he was doing. Greeks were notorious for rejecting the Law of YHVH, as did Antiochus IV, which is recalled each year at the telling of the Chanukah story. Greeks did not write this epistle, and when a Jew, like Paul, wanted to express himself in Greek, he would use the appropriate word. When we look at this verse in the Masoretic Hebrew of Isaiah 59:20, we see the word pesha’im where the word ‘ungodliness’ is found in the KJV English of Romans 11:26. This word in the KJV O.T. of Isaiah 59:20, has the word ‘transgressions’. How do you see any sabbath reference in the word pesha’im, one might ask?

The answer has to do with the permutations of language one often sees down through time in a local geographic region. The region we concern ourselves with is the eastern Mediterranean theater, with a view to the languages and history of the peoples who resided there.

The ancient word for a crescent moon was associated with a certain Nannar Sin in Sumeria. The foremost cities where the moon was ‘worshipped as a god’ were the biblical Ur and Harran. In both these places, the temples that honored the moon god were really astronomical observatories where the ‘priests’ who served the idols there, studied diligently the movements of the moon through the heavens. It is no coincidence that Abram came from Ur, and went to Harran, when he left Nimrod in Babylon.

Many are told that the modern English word ‘sin’ is allegedly taken from the Latin root sincere which had to do with the wax molds of idols and statues. Patrons would purchase these and did not want to be cheated on all they gave to make the images. A ‘sincere’ person was one who made the idol just as the patron had intended.

Related words to ‘sin’ in English are son, sun, syn- (a prefix that means: to bring or come together, with), and soon. How do these all relate? The ‘sun’ is a star in our local sky, and it is easy to see how this ancient word ‘sin’ could have been transferred to the ‘greater light’ from the ‘lesser light’.

The mideast is noted for its arid land and deserts. Were you to live there in ancient times, and feel the need to travel, you would do so primarily by night due to the scorching and relentless heat of the sun in the day. It is not hard to see how the ancient pagans would regard the moon as their chief deity.

When we consider together that the word pesha’im is translated as ‘transgressions’, and recall that ‘sin’ is ‘transgression of the law’ (I John 3:4), AND THAT words that contain ‘seb‘ roots, indicate Sabbath in one way or another, then it is not difficult to see that the ‘sins’ (transgressions) mentioned in Isaiah 59:20 are somehow connected to the Sabbath violations, and also connected to a wrong way of regarding the moon (Sin), meaning ‘holding it as an object of worship’.

Ezekiel 12:25 For I Am is YHVH: I Am shall speak, and the word That I Am speaks shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I Am say the word, and will perform it,” says Adonai YHVH.

The book of Isaiah from chapters 56 thru 59 in Hebrew, declare a restoration of YHVH’s true Sabbath to all of Israel who whole-heartedly wait and return to Him.

Isaiah 58:1 “Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and shew My people their transgression, and the house of Ya’aqov their sins. 2 Yet they seek Me daily, and delight to know My ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their Elohim: they ask of Me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to Elohim. 3 “Why do we fast?” said they, “and You do not see?” “Why do we afflict our soul and You take no knowledge of it?” Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labors. 4 Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high. 5 Is this such a fast That I Am has chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Would you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to YHVH?” 6 Is not this the fast That I Am has chosen: to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? 7 Is it not to deal your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor that are cast out to your house when you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you do not hide yourself from your own flesh? 8 Then shall your light break forth as the morning, and your health shall spring forth speedily: and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of YHVHshall be your rear guard. 9 Then you shall call, and YHVH shall answer; you shall cry, and He shall say, “Here I am,” if you take away from the midst of you the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; 10 And if you draw out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall your light rise in obscurity, and your darkness be as the noonday: 11 And YHVH shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make your bones fat: and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. 12 And they that return of you shall build the old waste places: you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called: The repairer of the breach; the RETURNERS TO THE NATIVE ways of Sabbath. 13 If you RETURN AGAIN TO the Sabbath; your feet from doing your own pleasure on My holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of YHVH, honorable; and shall honor Him; not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words: 14 Then shall you delight yourself in YHVH; and I Am will cause you to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Ya’aqov your father,” for the mouth of YHVH has spoken it.

What a marvelous passage of scripture, so much so that we must quote it all, at length.

The sins of Jacob have been told in this book, and Isaiah is commanded to declare it. The Torah tells the children of Israel to love their neighbor by judging them righteously, and not judge them unrighteously (adikian), which is warning them to never get caught up in the hypocrisy of false religion.

Finding one’s own pleasure is contrary to the will of Elohim and wherever we find the word ‘pleasure’ in the KJV it always means doing someone’s will, whether our own or His. Our pleasure is to do things as we see fit, our ways. His pleasure means doing things according to His will.

Psalm 95:6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before YHVH our maker. 7 For He is our Elohim; and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. Today if ye will hear His Voice, 8 do not harden your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9 when your fathers tempted I Am, proved I Am, and saw My work. 10 Forty years long was I Am grieved with this generation, and said, “It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known My ways: 11 unto whom I Am sware in My wrath: that they should not enter into My rest.”

What a fearsome warning this is. We see His Wrath and His Rest mentioned again in Revelation 14, following the preaching of the Age-lasting Gospel.

Revelation 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the Age-lasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and tribe, and tongue, and people, 7 saying with a loud voice, “Fear Elohim, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters;” 8 And there followed another angel, saying, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” 9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10 the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of Elohim that is to be poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascends up from Age to Age: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receives the mark of his name. 12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of Elohim, and the faith of Yeshua. 13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth. Yea, the Spirit says: that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them. 14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. 15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, “Thrust in your sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” 16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.

It is so important that those who hear enter into the rest of that Gospel of the Kingdom. For an example of this very thing, we look to the book of Hebrews, chapters three and four. The passages of the Tanakh (the Torah, Neviim and Khetuvim) that these chapters of Hebrews cite are Psalm 95, and Numbers 14.

Please note the critical differences in the following passage:

Numbers 14:22 (KJV) Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice; 23 Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it: 24 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it. 25 (Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwelt in the valley.) To morrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.

Notice the end of vs. 24 and all of vs. 25 in the KJV above. There is no punctuation in a Sefer Torah. The italicised words it and now indicate that the editors of the KJV made an addition to the text; if it does not appear that way in your favorite translation, rest assured these words were added nevertheless; they are not found in the source document. Next we see that in the KJV translation, verse 25 appears as a parenthetical insert. There are no breaks here in the Hebrew.

The bold words read “vezaro yorisheinah vehaAmalaqi vehaQana’ani; yoshev baEmeq”; literally, “his (Caleb‘s) seed shall possess the Amalekites and the Canaanites. Sabbath here in this valley today; tomorrow turn and get yourselves into the wilderness, by way of the Red Sea.”

Numbers 14:22 Because all those men who have seen My glory, and My miracles, which I Am did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have now tempted I Am these ten times, and have not hearkened to My voice; 23 surely they shall not see the land That I Am sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked I Am see it: 24 but My servant Caleb, because he had a different spirit with him, and has fully followed I Am, him will I Am bring into the land whereinto he went;  and his (Caleb’s) seed shall possess the Amalekites and the Canaanites. 25 Sabbath here in this valley today; tomorrow turn and get yourselves into the wilderness, by way of the Red Sea.

If you can reflect on this, many cannot, then you should be thinking at this point: “He means that the day they listened to the evil report was on the weekly Sabbath.” Yes, and that is the very point that the writer of the book of Hebrews is making because of its specific reference to this Torah portion which unfortunately in English does not bring this detail to our attention, rather, it suppresses it.

Psalm 95:6  O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before YHVH our maker. 7 For He is our Elohim; and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. Today if ye will hear His voice, 8 do not harden your heart, as in the provocation, the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9 When your fathers tempted I Am, tested I Am, and saw My work. 10 Forty years long was I Am grieved with this generation, and said, “It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known My ways: 11 unto whom I Am sw0re in My wrath, that they should not enter into My rest (His Sabbath).

Here we see that the word the Two Spies told to the children of Israel was given to them ON THE SABBATH, but it was rejected in favor of the false word spoken by the majority, the ten spies, and resulted in the people not believing what YHVH said, and falling prey to their own fears. They would not enter the Promised Land, by disobeying His Voice, and listening to the voice of ‘the majority’.

Hebrews 3:7 Wherefore; as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if ye will hear His voice, 8 do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9 When your fathers tempted I Am, proved I Am, and saw My works forty years. 10 Wherefore I Am was grieved with that generation, and said, “They do alway err in their heart (iniquity); and they have not known My ways.11 So I Am sware in My wrath: They shall not enter into My rest.”

Hebrews 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living Elohim. 13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called ‘Today’; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we are made partakers of Messiah (the anointing of the Holy One), if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end; 15 while it is said, “Today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.” 16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. 17 But with whom was He grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom sware He that they should NOT enter into His rest, but to those who did not believe? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

Hebrews 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into His rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. 3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as He said, “As I Am has sworn in My wrath, if they shall (NOT) enter into My rest,” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For He spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, “And Elohim did rest day of the seven from all His works.” 5 And in this place again, “If they shall enter into My rest.” 6 Seeing therefore it remains that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: 7 Again, He limits a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after so long a time; as it is said, “To day, if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts.” 8 For if Jesus (Joshua) had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remains therefore a rest (Sabbatizmos) to the people of Elohim. 10 For he that is entered into His rest, he also has ceased from his own works; as Elohim did from His. 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

For church-goers who say this has not been fair to them, that they never knew it because the translations have suppressed it, there remains the promise, “If today you hear His Voice, do not harden your hearts.”

Ezekiel 18:25 Yet ye say, “The way of YHVH is not fair.” Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not My way equal? Are not your ways unequal? 26 When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and dies in them; for his iniquity that he has done shall he die. 27 Again, when the wicked man turns away from his wickedness that he has committed, and does what is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive. 28 Because he considers, and turns away from all his transgressions that he has committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die. 29 Yet, the house of Israel says, “The way of YHVH is not fair.” O house of Israel, are not My ways equal? Are not your ways unequal? 30 Therefore will I Am will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,” says Adonai YHVH. “Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. 31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? 32 For I Am has no pleasure in the death of him that dies,” says Adonai YHVH: “wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.”

Ezekiel 20:44 “And ye shall know That I Am YHVH, when I Am has wrought with you for My Name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel,” says YHVH.

Psalm 81:11 But My people would not hearken to My voice; and Israel would have none of I Am. 12 So I Am gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels. 13 Oh that My people had hearkened unto I Am, and Israel had walked in My ways! 14 I Am should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned My hand against their adversaries.”

As we return to Him by returning to His Timekeeping, we may notice the following passage, that again is listed in the place of Isaiah that speaks at length of the restoration of YHVH’s Shabbat in the latter days.

Isaiah 56:1 Thus says YHVH, “Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for My salvation is near to come, and My righteousness is about to be revealed. 2 Blessed is the man that does this, and the son of man that lays hold on it; that keeps the sabbath from polluting it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil. 3 Neither let the son of the stranger, that has joined himself to YHVH, speak, saying, “YHVH has utterly separated me from His people,” neither let the eunuch say, “Behold, I am a dry tree.” 4 For thus says YHVH unto the eunuchs who keep My sabbaths, and choose what pleases I Am, and take hold of My covenant; 5 even unto them will I Am give in My house and within My walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I Am will give them an Age-lasting name, that shall not be cut off. 6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to YHVH, to serve Him, and to love the Name YHVH, to be His servants, every one that keeps self from polluting the sabbath, and takes hold of My covenant; 7 even them will I Am bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon My altar; for My house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. 8 Thus says Adonai YHVH who gathers the outcasts of Israel, “Yet will I Am gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him.”

The overcomers have promises given to them by I Am, and they are the sons of Elohim.

Revelation 2:7 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the ekklesia: “To him that overcomes will I Am give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of Elohim.”

Revelation 2:11 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the ekklesia; He that overcomes shall not be hurt of the second death.

Revelation 2:17 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the ekklesia: “To him that overcomes will I Am give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knows saving he that receives it.

Revelation 2:26 And he that overcomes, and keeps my works unto the end, to him will I Am give power over the nations: 27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I Am received of my Father. 28 And I Am will give him the morning star.” 29 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the ekklesia.

Revelation 3:5 He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I Am will confess his name before my Father, and before His angels.” 6 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the ekklesia.

Revelation 3:12 Him that overcomes will I Am make a pillar in the temple of my Elohim, and he shall go no more out: and I Am will write upon him the name of my Elohim, and the name of the city of my Elohim, which is new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from my Elohim: and I will write upon him my new name.” 13 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the ekklesia.

Revelation 3:21 “To him that overcomes will I Am grant to sit with I Am in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in His throne.” 22 He that has an ear, let him hear what the spirit says unto the ekklesia.

Romans 8:5 For those who pursue the flesh, do mind the things of the flesh; but those who are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit; 6 for to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace, 7 because the carnal mind is at war with Elohim: for it is not subject to the Torah of YHVH, neither indeed can they 8 such that, those who are ‘in the flesh’ cannot please Elohim. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of Elohim tabernacles inside of you. Now if any man does not have the Spirit of Messiah, he is none of his. 10 And if Messiah be inside of you, the body is dead due to sin; but the Spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of Him who raised up the son of man from the dead tabernacles inside of you, He who raised up Messiah from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that tabernacles inside of you. 12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live; 14 for as many as are led by the Spirit of Elohim they are the sons of Elohim. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, “Abba!” 16 The spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the b’nei Elohim; 17 and if sons, then heirs; heirs of Elohim, and joint-heirs with Messiah; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. 18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of Elohim. 20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of Him who has subjected the same in hope, 21 because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious freedom of the sons of Elohim. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now. 23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

Matthew 19:28 And Yeshua said unto them, “Verily I Am says unto you, ye which have followed I Am, that: in the regeneration when the son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Luke 22:28 “Ye are they who have continued with I Am in my temptations. 29 And I Am appoints unto you a kingdom, as my Father has appointed unto I Am; 30 that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of those who were beheaded for the testimony of Yeshua, and for the word of Elohim, and who had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Messiah a thousand years.

Isaiah 66:22 “For as the new heavens and the new earth, That I Am will make, shall remain before I Am,” says YHVH, “so shall your seed and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before I Am,” says YHVH. 24 “And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcasses of the men that have transgressed against I Am: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.”

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Messiah: for it is the power of Elohim unto salvation to everyone that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek; 17 for therein is the righteousness of Elohim revealed from (one new moon to another) faith (emunah) to faith (emunah): as it is written: the just (righteous) shall live by faith (emunah).

Psalm 89:34 My covenant will I Am not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of My lips. 35 Once has I Am sworn by My holiness; That I Am will not lie unto David. 36 His seed shall endure l’olam, and his throne as the sun before I Am. 37 It shall be established l’olam as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven.” Selah.

The 144,000 are kings, and priests of the Melchizedek Order. They keep His Sabbaths, at the appointed time He designates. The counterfeits to them are ‘sons of perdition’ who go their own way, having cast off their first faith. The true sons keep His Sabbath on 7, 14, 21, because that is where their names are found written in the book:

Revelation 7:4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 sealed from all the tribes of b’nei Israel: 5 from the tribe of Yehudah, 12,000 sealed; from the tribe of Reuven 12,000 sealed; from the tribe of Gahd 12,000 sealed; 6 from the tribe of Asher 12,000 sealed; from the tribe of Nepthali 12,000 sealed; from the tribe of Menashe 12,000 sealed; 7 from the tribe of Shimon 12,000 sealed; from the tribe of Levi 12,000 sealed; from the tribe of Ish-Sachar 12,000 sealed; 8 from the tribe of Zevulon 12,000 sealed; from the tribe of Yoseph 12,000 sealed; from the tribe of ben-Yamin 12,000 sealed;

Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an 144,000, having his Father’s Name written in their foreheads 2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: 3 and they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song except the 144,000, who were redeemed from the earth. 4 These are those who were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are those who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto Elohim and to the Lamb 5 and in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of Elohim.

Revelation 21:15  And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. 16 And the city lies foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. 17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.

The Wrath of Elohim Revealed

(updated 02/16/12)

The previous passage is parallel to our next passage for consideration, Romans 1:18 – 2:6.

Many church goers falsely claim that they are not appointed to the ‘wrath of God’, by taking a single verse out of context. Truly Elohim pours out His wrath on the wicked, not on the righteous. But all things written in His word must be obeyed and if anyone rejects His Law, or His commands , or His Sabbath and appointed times, when He presents them to them they will merit the Wrath of Elohim, according to the Scripture.

(Note: please read about Revelation 14 concerning the gospel of the everlasting kingdom  below).

Romans 1:18 For the Wrath of Elohim is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness asebeia (Sabbath-rejection) and unrighteousness adikian (false religion) of men, who hold (suppress) the Truth in unrighteousness (false religion); 19 because that which may be known of Elohim is manifest in them; for Elohim hath shewed it unto them.

Fury is wrath; in Ezekiel, chapter 20, verses 33 and 34, wrath was poured out on the children of Israel in the wilderness for profaning His Holy Name and for polluting His Sabbaths. The bowls of wrath (Rev. 16) are poured out on the entire earth for the exact same reason. Elohim does not change (Mal. 3:6).

Malachi 3:5 “And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not Me,” saith the says YHVH Tzevaot. 6 “For I Am is YHVH, I Am does not change; therefore ye sons of Ya’aqov are not consumed.”

The word ‘ungodliness’ in the KJV N.T. contains the seb root previously mentioned. In Romans 1, we understand that the wrath comes for the same reason it always came before: people rejected righteousness, which is summed up in the word Sabbath. The Great Flood came in on the world of the Sabbath breakers according to Peter.

2 Peter 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly (asebeis Sabbath- rejecting).

2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knows how to deliver the ‘godly’ (eusebos; Sabbath-keeping) out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the Day of judgment to be punished: Previously, in the exegesis of 2 Thess. 2:6-7, we saw the root word katecho was translated differently in consecutive verses (vss. 6 and 7). Here (Rom.1:18) we find a third way they translated this word (katechonton); they translate it as ‘hold’.

What Paul is saying here is that men in organized, false religion would suppress the Truth about Sabbath. Unrighteousness is false religion. There is no other righteousness apart from the righteousness of the Elohim of Israel. When the children of Israel depart from His righteousness, they try to maintain an outward form of righteousness, but it is not His righteousness, it is un-righteousness; false religion. All false religion is unrighteousness. Roman 1:19 and 20 tells that “the invisible things of God”, things such as marriage covenant and Sabbath, are clearly revealed by the things that were made.

The sun, moon, and stars were made on day four of the recreation for the purpose of timekeeping. The moon in particular was made for signs and appointed times (moedeim, Ps. 104:19). Men may try to use the scripture to say this is not so, but the creation itself testifies against them. No matter how many bad translations they try to quote, they lack any and all scriptural support for their unrighteous contentions (Rom. 1:20).

Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made (day 4;), even his eternal power and Godhead (deity nature); so that they are without excuse (anapologetes, ‘without apology’, lacking any and all scriptural support): 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the uncorruptible Elohim into an image made like to corruptible man (day 6), and to birds (day 5), and four-footed beasts (day 6), and creeping things (day 6). 24 Wherefore Elohim also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 who changed the Truth of Elohim into a lie, and worshipped (esebastheisan, kept Sabbath unto) and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amein.

The Truth that is changed into a lie is Sabbath, when it becomes ‘Saturday sabbath’. Paul is using the first chapter of Genesis for his reference to this passage. We know the specific Truth that is being suppressed here is Sabbath because of the many references being made to the Creator and the days of the re-creation in Genesis, chapter one. This is also the same thing Paul is writing about in 2 Thess. 2:8 -11.

2 Thessalonians 2:8 And then shall that Wicked one be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 even him, whose coming is in accord with the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness (adikian; false religion) in them that perish; because they received not the love of the Truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause Elohim shall send them strong delusion, such that they should believe a lie: 12 that they all might be damned who believed not the Truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness (adikian).

Romans 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain Elohim in their knowledge, Elohim gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Romans 1:32 Who, though knowing the judgment of Elohim, that those who commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same but have pleasure in them that do them. 2:1 Therefore you are inexcusable (anapologetos), O man, whosoever you are that so judges: for wherein you so judge another, you condemn yourself; for you that so judge doest the same things. 2 But we are sure that the judgment of Elohim is according to Truth against those who commit such things. 3 And do you think this, O man, that judges those who do such things, and while you do the same, that you shall escape the judgment of Elohim? 4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of Elohim leads you to repentance? 5 But according to your stubbornesss and impenitent heart, you are treasuring up unto yourself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of Elohim; 6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds.

We see a reference made here to a list of wicked things reprobate people are given over to do when they reject Elohim in their knowledge. The list of such things is:

Romans 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; they are full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 being backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 who are without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful.

In false religion, whether christian or ‘messianic’, men are told to not judge, which they justify saying by taking Romans 2:1 out of context. The word ‘inexcusable’ in Romans 2:1 is the same word as ‘without excuse’ in Romans 1:20. It means: lacking any and all scriptural support for a position that is taken contrary to what is witnessed in the creation itself. This verse is telling us that those who take pleasure in such things and those who do them, are judging unrighteous judgment, they acquit they guilty because they themselves do not want to be held accountable for doing the same things. We are supposed to judge righteously our neighbor because that is the definition of loving your neighbor as yourself. Loving our neighbor is to hold him accountable, and to judge him righteously as needed.

Leviticus 19:13 You shall not defraud your neighbour, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with you all night until the morning. 14 You shall not curse the deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the blind, but shalt fear your Elohim: I Am YHVH. 15 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: you shall not respect the person of the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty: but in righteousness  you shall judge your neighbor. 16 You shall not go up and down as a talebearer among your people: neither shall you stand against the blood of you neighbour: I Am YHVH. 17 You shall not hate your brother in your heart: you shall rebuke in any wise your neighbor, and not suffer sin upon him. 18 You shall not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I Am YHVH.

We are called to judge our neighbor as needed, and to do so righteously, not hating him or practicing partiality, respect of persons and fear of man. False religion would have us never to judge righteously our neighbor, and to allow him to sin and keep on sinning.

This is what is meant in Romans 1:32 and 2:1, and it is most deceptive on the part of the editors of the KJV (and other English translations) that they made the chapter break between chapters 1 and 2 at this point. It appears that this was done by them deliberately that they might further suppress the Truth. Those who would continue to suppress, after knowing the Truth, will face the wrath of Elohim.

The Anti- Messiah Spirit is the Anti-Sabbath Spirit

The scripture passage that follows describes for us the character of the ‘man of sin’ who is also called the ‘son of perdition’ (vs. 3). Perdition means to be lost, and a ‘man of sin’ is the opposite of a man of righteousness, one who obeys the law, ‘the son of man’. The end times are characterized by false religion, and this is because of the falling away (vs.2), the Great Apostasy, that is coming.

2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away (apostasia) first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

In Greek an apostasian is a divorce, a false woman being put away by her faithful husband. The man of sin lives with another man’s wife and uses her for his own pleasure, and she uses him for her pleasure. The man of sin rebels against the law of the husband and opposes and exalts himself against everything pertaining to the true husband. The Greek word translated ‘who opposeth’ here is antikeimenos which means an adversary, which in Hebrew is satan. The satanic nature is to oppose everything that is associated with the name of the husband: his wife, his law, his house, his children, his relatives, his ancestors, etc.

2:4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called Elohim, or that is worshipped (sebasma, Sabbath-related); so that he as Elohim (ca-Elohim) sits (yashav; sabbaths) in the temple of Elohim, shewing forth himself, that he is Elohim.

The next phrase contains a false translation. The word ‘worshipped’ in Greek is sebasma, and it means everything that is related to YHVH’s true Sabbath. The anti-Messiah spirit rises up in people who are involved in ‘unrighteousness’ (false religion) whenever anyone brings up any topic about Sabbath to someone who does not observe it. This means the anti-messiah spirit is identified by its opposition to YHVH’s Sabbath on every level. Those who hate the moon being used to determine the day of Sabbath, are as anti-messiah as any church going person who rejects the Fourth commandment, who is also an anti-messiah.

The seb root in the Greek Textus Receptus (Received Text), the source document behind the KJV New Testament, means Sabbath, and has been suppressed by translators throughout the New Testament. A whole book can be written on this topic alone. The anti-Messiah spirit is responsible for the suppression of Sabbath in all English bible translations. The word ‘sitteth’ (sits) in Hebrew is yashav and contains the letters shin bet which are also at the root of the word Shabbat, which is Sabbath.

The son of perdition hates YHVH’s Sabbath, which really is no more than doing the will of YHVH, including observing His commandments, and His signs and appointed times (moedim). In this manner the ‘man of sin’ puts forth himself as Elohim. The ‘man of sin’ is the opposite to the ‘son of man’, who obeys his Father’s commandments and loves not his own life unto death (Rev. 14:10).

The original lie that the serpent told to Eve was that she would not die, that she would become ca-Elohim (as ‘God’, like ‘God’); and that she would also know good and evil. Previously she had only known good. The anti-messiah spirit teaches and believes the original lie and no liar has a place in the kingdom of Elohim.

Genesis 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, “Ye shall not surely die: 5 for Elohim doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods (ca-Elohim), knowing good and evil.”

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not (did not rest, sabbath) in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Revelation 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defiles, neither whatsoever works abomination, or makes a lie: but those that are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loves and makes a lie.

2 Thessalonians 2:5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now ye know what withholds (katechon) that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity (anomias; lawlessness, namelessness) already works: only he who now lets (katechwn) will let (added by translators, but same), until he be taken out of the way.

The man of sin, son of perdition spoken about in verses three and four is still in view in verses five, six, and seven. The word ‘withholdeth’ in Greek is derived from the root katecho which means to hold, to hold down, to keep back, to restrain, to suppress, etc. This is where the idea of the ‘restrainer’ comes from, however, nowhere is the Holy Spirit mentioned in this context. The ‘restrainer’ in this context is the man of sin, the son of perdition; and what is being suppressed by the ‘restrainer’ is YHVH’s Sabbath, and His Law, and His commandments.

Sabbath has been suppressed in the entire New Testament versions for four hundred years (KJV 1611- 2011). The exact same word (katecho) is found in the next verse (7) where it has been translated ‘letteth’, and implied ‘will let’. Why, in two consecutive verses in the Greek (vss. 6 and 7) is the identical Greek word translated with two different English words that do not resemble each other in the least? It is because Sabbath is being suppressed in the translation. This is the Truth that has been changed into a lie. The anti-messiah spirit hates the Truth of His Law and most especially His Sabbath.

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, “Lord, Lord,” shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, “Lord, Lord,” have we not prophesied in Thy Name? And in Thy Name have cast out devils? And in Thy Name done many wonderful works?” 23 And then will I Am profess unto them, “I Am never knew you: depart from I Am, ye that work iniquity (anomian).”

The mystery of iniquity mentioned in 2 Thess. 2:7 is an echo of what was originally stated in Matthew 7:23. There is found the same word and in Hebrew it is avon which means to ‘miss the mark’, the exact same meaning as the Greek word for ‘sin’ hamartia. The idea behind this word is that one interprets for himself what he is commanded to do by a higher authority. One who leans unto their own understanding commits iniquity. Everyone who does what is right in his own eyes is iniquitous.

Deuteronomy 12:8 Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes. 9 For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which YHVH your Elohim gives you.

Judges 17:6 In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

Judges 21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in YHVH with all your heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkens unto counsel is wise.

Proverbs 21:2  Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but YHVH ponders the hearts.

2 Thessalonians 2:8 And then shall that Wicked one be revealed, whom YHVH shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness (false religion) in them that perish; because they received not the love of the Truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause Elohim shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 that they all might be damned who believed not the Truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness (adikian; false religion).

The Dragon that Desolates the Whole Earth

Revelation 12:3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. 4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the Dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

Revelation 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the Dragon; and the Dragon fought and his angels, 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell (shaken; tabernacle) in them. “Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” 13 And when the Dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman who brought forth the manchild. 17 And the Dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of Elohim, and have the testimony of Yeshua Messiah.

All of Revelation, chapter 13, describes the time when the earth becomes desolate. There we see the mark of the beast being used as the medium of exchange in the economy of the earth. The medium of exchange in the kingdom of Elohim is the Word of Elohim.

Exercising faith in His Word will provide for all the needs of His obedient children who dwell ‘in the heavens’, which means ‘who walk spiritually’ and partake of His Kingdom. In the book of Revelation we often see the phrase, “them that dwell on the earth.”

Them That Dwell In the Earth

Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Revelation 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of Elohim, and for the testimony which they held: 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, do you not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?”

Revelation 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. 4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the Elohim of the earth.

11:7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. 8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. 9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. 10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

Revelation 13:4 And they worshipped the Dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, “Who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” 5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against Elohim, to blaspheme His Name, and His Tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. 7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. 8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. 9 If any man have an ear, let him hear. 10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. 11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. 12  And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, 14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

Revelation 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the Ages-lasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7 saying with a loud voice, “Fear Elohim, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” 8 And there followed another angel, saying, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” 9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice: If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10  The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of Elohim that is poured out without mixture into the cup of His indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascends up from Age to Age: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receives the mark of his name.

Revelation 17:8 The beast that you saw was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

In the Greek this phrase “them that dwell on the earth” can mean ‘those who participate in the global economy’. In Hebrew, this phrase can mean ‘all who partake of the WORLDLY Sabbath’ which is the Sabbath of tradition (Saturday Sabbath).

Many peoples in the last days will desolate themselves, their sanctuary, their personal tabernacle, by receiving the mark of the beast so they can participate in the global economy and buy and sell. The global economy is a system of fraud and deceit. We cannot separate the idea of an economy from timekeeping; they reflect each other, as scripture shows us.

Amos 8:4 Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail, 5 saying, “When will the new moon (chodesh renewal) be gone that we may sell corn? And the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit? 6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse (spoiled) of the wheat?”

Joseph was bought for a pair of sandals. Today international shoe businesses in poor countries operate huge sweat shops and pay their workers very little for basketball shoes that sell for hundreds of dollars a pair. This is but one example of the oppression of the poor found in the global economy. The global economy keeps time by the pagan Elohim Chronos/Saturn.

Amos 2:6 Thus says YHVH; “For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I Am will not turn away the punishment of it; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes; 7 that pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane My Holy Name.”

The word ‘deceive’ is the word plahnes in Greek. The global economy uses the planets for their timekeeping, and in Greek, the phrase ‘wandering star’ (Jude 1:13) is plahnetes. Wound, wind, wonder, wander, wand, all contain n-d. This is the same n-d found in the words Nod (Gen 4:16) and Hindu. Cain wandered in the land of Nod, east of Eden, today’s India, and it is there we find the religion of the Hindus. Cain would not offer the firstfruits of his flocks, a blood sacrifice, but he would kill his brother out of Envy, which is what the word qayin means. Today if you kill a cow in India, it will cause a riot among the Hindu peoples for the same reason.

The global economy operates on pagan timekeeping that calls days by the names of pagan gods. Liars insist the whole world over keeps the seventh day as a sabbath, in never ending cycles of seven, independent of the moon that was made for determining ALL moedim (Ps. 104:19), not just feasts. The world’s week is a never-ending cycle of seven days and the world’s Sabbath is not YHVH’s. It’s ‘sabbath’ has no relationship with the moon that was made for signs and appointed times. The worldly Sabbath is according to the names of the Edomite pagan Elohim of time, Chronos, Saturn.

Revelation 18:19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, “Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! For in one hour is she made desolate!”

The Abomination of Desolation

There is a personal ‘abomination of desolation’ that some bring on themselves, that parallels the one mentioned for the city of Jerusalem. A description of it would be to become ‘unborn again’, a process that results in the ‘second death’, a death of spirit that occurs after one had been born again, and then subsequently commits the blasphemy of the spirit.

Matthew 12:30 He that is not with I Am is against I Am; and he that gathers not with I Am scatters abroad. 31 Wherefore I Am says unto you: All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven unto men.  32 And whosoever speaks a word against the ‘son of man’, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this age, neither in the age to come..

Matthew 12:43 “When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none, 44 then he says, “I will return into my house from whence I came out,” and when he is come, he finds it empty, swept, and garnished. 45 Then goes  he, and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

Luke 11:23 “He that is not with I Am is against I Am: and he that gathers not with I Am scatters. 24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, “I will return unto my house whence I came out. 25 And when he comes, he finds it swept and garnished. 26 Then goes he, and takes to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in, and tabernacle there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.”

Luke 12:8 Also I Am says unto you, “Whosoever shall confess I Am before men, him shall the ‘son of man’ also confess before the angels of Elohim: 9 But he that denies I Am before men shall be denied before the angels of Elohim. 10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the ‘son of man’, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemes against the Holy Spirit it shall not be forgiven.”

We note that these passages are in reverse order in the books in which they appear. The ideas presented in both are speaks to an offense that happens in real time. Whereas a person who denies the ‘son of man’, such as did Peter in the garden and around the fire, can be forgiven, the blasphemy against the holy spirit that occurs in real time is not forgiven. The other condition that shows this to us is that of Judas Iscariot, called a ‘son of perdition’ who betrayed innocent blood unto death.

We also notice that Mary Magdalene had seven devils within her, and had to have them cast out of her. This means her ‘house’ had once been swept clean, and the devil that had left her came back to her, and took up residence once more, seven devils residing within her. But she too obtained forgiveness when she turned to YHVH with all her heart.

Luke 8:1 And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of Elohim: and the twelve were with him, 2 and certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Miryam called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, 3 And Yochanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Shoshanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

Mark 16:9 Now when Yeshua was risen early the One of Weeks, he appeared first to Miryam Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

The other condition that is called ‘blasphemy of the spirit’ is permanent and irrevokable. When described in the passages above, Yeshua tells his disciples that all manner of evil speaking against the Father and the ‘son of man’ would be tolerated and forgiven, but blasphemy against the ruach haQodesh would not be tolerated and result in the permanent state that is called perdition.

1 Thessalonians 5:19 Quench not the Spirit. 20 Do not despise prophesyings. 21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. 23 And the very shalom of Elohim will sanctify you wholly; and your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Yeshua Messiah.

Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy spirit of Elohim, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

The sealing of the Holy Spirit is nowhere stated in the Scripture to be inviolate. Compare it to a letter in the mail or a cap on the bottle of a soft drink. If the seal is broken the contents inside are not guaranteed and an inspection and investigation must ensue to find out why the seal has been broken, and what are the consequences of having found the seal broken. In former times, a young girl would be pure at the time of her marriage, her seal intact.

This condition of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, only results when a human is confronted by the Holy Spirit in real time, in the here and now, and calls that spirit by which he is confronted, an evil thing.

When a person becomes ‘born again’ the Holy Spirit quickens them upon their confession of faith and yielding to His spirit which causes the change within them. The opposite of this is true when the ultimately cast off the Holy Spirit from their lives, and turn completely away after having been warned time and time again, resulting in the position we can call ‘unborn again’, or scripturally ‘twice dead’, plucked up by the rooots, having no chance of repenting after having quenched and grieved the Holy Spirit one too many times. Only the Father knows when this time comes but it comes upon them on a day and an hour in which they are neither looking for, nor aware of when it comes.

Luke 12:45 But and if that servant say in his heart, “My lord delays his coming,” and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; 46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he  is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. 47 And that servant that knew his lord’s will, yet did not prepare himself, neither did according to his will shall be beaten with many  stripes48  and he that did not knew, and committed things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of Elohim is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

Though many may deny that He is able to know the thought of their heart, or reveal it to His servants; the Scripture makes it plain that this is not so.

1 Corinthians 14:24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one who does not believe, or one unlearned, he is convicted of all, he is judged of all: 25 and thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling face down he will worship YHVH Elohim, and report that Elohim is in you of a truth. 26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

In the American classic song, Bye Bye Miss American Pie, a certain lyric goes, “the church bells all were broken.” In terms of metaphor and allegory, this phrase means that none of the spiritual gifts were any longer in operation in the local assembly, because the people had all turned away from Him.

Frequently it is the ‘churches’ that teach the ‘baptism of the Holy Spirit’ that early on TURN AWAY FROM the authentic Holy Spirit in favor of a replacement Jezebel spirit that hates the prophets (truth tellers) of YHVH, sent to warn them to turn back before its too late.

Revelation 2:20 “Notwithstanding, I Am has a few things against you, because you suffer that woman (spirit of) Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce My servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.”

Such groups can readily identify the ‘spirit of truth’ as it manifests in their midst, but they heavily persecute those under its influence in the attempt to drive it off, extirpate it, and eradicate it from their midst.

The prototypical type for this kind of wickedness is recorded in John’s gospel.

John 8:12  Then spake Yeshua again unto them, saying, “I Am is the light of the world: he that follows I Am shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” 13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, “You bear record of yourself; your testimony is not true.” 14 Yeshua answered and said unto them, “Though I testify of self, yet my witness is true: for I Am knows whence I Am is come and where I Am goes; but ye cannot tell whence I Am comes, and where I Am goes. 15 Ye judge after the flesh; I Am judges no man. 16 And yet if I Am were to judge, my judgment is true: for I Am is not alone, but I Am and the Father who sent I Am are Echad. 17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. 18 I Am is one that bears witness of myself, and the Father who sent I Am bears witness of I Am.” 19 Then said they unto him, “Where is your Father?” Yeshua answered, “Ye neither know I Am, nor my Father: if ye had known I Am, ye should have known my Father also.” 20 These words spake Yeshua in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come. 21 Then said Yeshua again unto them, “I go my way, and ye shall seek I Am, and shall die in your sins: where I Am goes, ye cannot come.” 22 Then the religious Jews said, “Will he kill himself?” because he said, “Where I Am goes, ye cannot come.” 23 And he said unto them, “Ye are from beneath; I Am is from above: ye are of this world; I Am is not of this world. 24 I Am said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not That I Am he, ye shall die in your sins.” 25 Then said they unto him, “Who are you?” And Yeshua said unto them, “Even that which That I Am said unto you from the beginning. 26 I Am has many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent I Am is true; and I Am speak to the world those things That I Am has heard of Him.” 27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father. 28 Then said Yeshua unto them, “When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know That I Am he, and that I Am does nothing of self; but as my Father has taught I Am, I Am speak these things, 29 and He that sent I Am is with I Am: the Father has not left I Am alone; for I Am always does those things that please Him.” 30 As he spake these words, many believed on Him. 31 Then said Yeshua to those Jews who believed on him, “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” 33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how is it you say, “Ye shall be made free?” 34 Yeshua answered them, “Awmein, Awmein, I Am says to you: Whosoever commits sin is the slave of sin. 35 And the slave does not abide in the house l’olam: but the son abides l’olam. 36 If the son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. 37 I Am knows that ye are Abraham’s seed physically; but ye seek to kill me, because my word has no place in you. 38 I Am speaks what That I Am has seen with my Father: and ye do what ye have seen with your father.” 39 They answered and said unto him, “Abraham is our father!” Yeshua said unto them, “If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham. 40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that has told you the truth That I Am has heard from Elohim: Abraham did this not. 41 Ye do the deeds of your father.” Then said they to him, “We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even Elohim!” 42 Yeshua said unto them, “If Elohim were your Father, ye would love I Am: for I Am proceeded forth and came from Elohim; neither came I Am of myself, but He sent I Am. 43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. 44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not abide in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it; 45 and because I Am tells you the truth, ye do not believe I Am. 46 Which of you can convict I Am of sin? And if I Am says the truth, why do ye not believe I Am? 47 He that is of Elohim hears Elohim‘s words:therefore  ye do not hear them, because ye are not of Elohim.” 48 Then answered the religious Jews, and said unto him, “Do we not well say that you are a Samaritan, and have a devil?” 49 Yeshua answered, “I Am is not a devil; but I Am honors my Father, and ye do dishonor I Am. 50 And I Am does not seek my own glory: there is one who seeks and judges. 51 Awmein, Awmein, I Am says to you: If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.” 52 Then the Jews said unto him, “Now we know that you have a devil! Abraham is dead, and the prophets also; yet you say, “If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.” 53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who is dead, and the prophets that are dead? Whom do you make yourself to be?” 54 Yeshua answered, “If I Am honors myself, my honor is nothing: it is my Father that honors I Am; of whom ye say, that he is your Elohim. 55 Yet ye have not known Him; but I Am knows him: and if I Am should say, “I don’t know Him,” I Am would be a liar, like unto you: but I Am knows Him and keeps His saying. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.” 57 Then the Jews said unto him, “You are not even fifty years old, yet you have seen Abraham?” 58 Yeshua said unto them, “Awmein, Awmein, I Am says to you: Before Abraham was, I AM.” 59  Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Yeshua hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

The denial on the part of the Pharisees, that this truth-teller before them had the Holy Spirit operating in him, and through him, was their undoing. They sought to stone a son. Misapplied scriptures on the part of the multitude frequently results in ugly mob action against the ones who are bold enough to confront the false mindset of a group of religious bigots, who think themselves right, when their whole character is false. His words cut to their hearts with the finely honed blade of a two-edged sword that could divide soul from spirit. They were ‘cut to the heart’ under the conviction of the Holy Spirit that brings such words, the secrets of their hearts being revealed. Though Elohim was inside of Messiah, reconciling the world unto himself, they stubbornly resisted the conviction of the holy spirit as their fathers before them were always known to do.

2 Corinthians 5:19 To wit, that Elohim was in Messiah, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Acts 7:51 “Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Spirit: as your fathers did, so do ye. 52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: 53 who have received the law by the disposition of angels, yet have not kept it,” 54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth. 55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of Elohim, and Yeshua standing on the right hand of Elohim, 56 and said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the ‘son of man’ standing on the right hand of Elohim.” 57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, 58 and cast him out of the city, and stoned him, and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul.

Saul was one of them, and later on the road to Damascus, where he was headed to further persecute the followers of Yeshua, he was knocked ‘off his ass’, on his ass, so to speak. Later he would become known to the world as Poulos (Paul) the apostle, and he would spread the faith he had once persecuted. Paul warns of the severity of mishandling and persecuting the truth from the position of religious bigotry and hypocrisy.

The ‘mark of the beast’ is a moment in time when all living then must make their choice as to which way they will go. The particulars involved with that choice are given in the passage below. Many time clues and timekeeping concepts are involved in knowing exactly what is to transpire in the days and years leading up to that fateful decision. For many, they will make the wrong choice, damning their own souls, because they will fully be fore-warned of the consequence of making such a choice. The receiving of the mark is tantamount to blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, and all them that dwell on the earth, will have the opportunity to know the truth with the preaching of the everlasting gospel, as given in Revelation 14:6-16, in which is described the deaths of martyrs for Yeshua, who would not give up their faith and their testimony in the face of such an horrid choice.

Revelation 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. 2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the Dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. 4 And they worshipped the Dragon who gave of his power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, “Who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”  5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty two months. 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against Elohim, to blaspheme His Name, and His tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. 7  And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all tribes, and tongues, and nations. 8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. 9 If any man have an ear, let him hear. 10 He that leads into captivity shall go into captivity: he that kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. 11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a Dragon. 12 And he exercises all the power of the first beast before him, and causes the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13  And he does great wonders, so that he makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, 14  And deceives them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, who had the wound by a sword, and did live. 15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. 16 And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that has understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Revelation 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7 saying with a loud voice, “Fear YHVH Elohim, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea (4th Commandment; keep His Shabbat, and none else), and the fountains of waters.”  8 And there followed another angel, saying, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”  9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10 the same shall drink of the wine of the Wrath of Elohim, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of His indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascends up from Age to Age: and they have no rest (Sabbath) day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receives the mark of his name. 12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of Elohim and the faith of Yeshua.” 13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, “Write, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea,” says the spirit, “that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” 14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the ‘son of man’, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. 15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, “Thrust in your sickle and reap, for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” 16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.

Tares are upright stalks in and among the ripened heads of grain that bow when the time of the harvest is come. Apostate christianity thinks only in terms of a global television revival as an endtime harvest of souls. But when we consider the sparse words of the imagery contained here in this passage, it speaks of a global beheading of those who refuse the mark of the beast, and this is attributed to the ‘patience of the saints’. And what follows this time, is the harvesting of the grapes of wrath, of those who are appointed to wrath because they forsake the gospel of the Ages-lasting kingdom of Elohim.

Revelation 14:18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, “Thrust in your sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.” 19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the Wrath of Elohim. 20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlong (200 miles).

Saturn is the ancient pagan, Roman deity of material prosperity, another word for which is mammon.

The treasury of Rome was at the temple of Saturn, who was also considered a ‘god’ of agriculture, commerce, and prosperity. Saturn worship is what the world now does as all globally ply their wares on high seas and the internet, which are governed by a time-keeping system that honors Saturn’s day above all others, in never-ending cycles of seven.

The Scripture declares: He made the moon for moedim (Ps. 104:19) taken from Genesis 1:14-16. There it states that the ‘lesser light’ (the moon), along with the stars, rule over the night, and that it was given for SIGNS (Otot) and APPOINTED TIMES (moedim). His Shabbat is both an Ot (Ex. 31:13-17) and a Moed (Lev. 23:2-4), and has nothing to do with Saturn, the deity of Esau, whose children, the b’nei Edom, have brought the ‘whole world to wander’ after the image of the beast, through their timekeeping.

Luke 16:12 “And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own? 13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve Elohim and mammon.” 14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him. 15 And he said unto them, “Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but Elohim knows your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of Elohim.”

Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Yeshua, and for the word of Elohim, and who had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Messiah a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the First Resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he that has part in the First Resurrection: on such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of Elohim and of Messiah, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
